Alixpartners fishes - have you started traveling again? Do you foresee your travel requirements reducing post covid
Has anyone taken an unpaid leave on H1b without leaving the country? I am just really burnt out with work, kids and taking care of my wife who is recovering from a severe case of covid. Would love to not work for a month. She is on H4.
Had covid, got J&J, just tested positive for Covid again. Same symptoms, did anyone experience a shorter turn around time
Met with my boss today and was told “well you’re way better at your job than we expected...so keep doing that and just that. We might be able to have some more interesting work for you to do in 2-3 years”. Meanwhile...I am BORED TO TEARS!!!!!! And it’s tempting to quit, but I make more money than both of my parents combined EVER have, we had zero layoffs during COVID, and I really do love the people. At the end of the day...I guess I’m just hear to vent and to see if I’m the ONLY one.
How to set boundaries at work with the Covid campaigns? We’re already working long hours during the week. I really can’t take this on the weekends too. I know you’re supposed to ‘save your job’ but...
I work in a small office (10 people, not with Mazars) and there is talk requiring everyone to be Covid vaccinated in order to return to the office, i.e. to continue working at this firm. Thoughts?
If Trump was right about COVID starting in a Wuhan lab, could... could he be right about other things? He might have actually been a stable genius after all.
How should I spend my two weeks block leave during this COVID? Does anyone travel overseas?
I had to reject an offer from a company last year due to COVID concerns and not being able to relocate. Would it be a bad idea to reach out and inquire about it again?
First there were small groups of humans in caves, then communities formed, then kingdoms, then empires, then countries. Leave aside the impact to globalization due to covid, the future might be contd.
Who recovered from COVID and how long did it take? What were your symptoms and how did it start? Did you have to be hospitalized?
Remember when coronavirus was a big story?
I have patients that are continuing to work despite testing positive for covid. So hard to see these people choose between poverty and eviction and taking the precautions they know are right
So we hired our own doctor to be on a firm wide WebEx about how COVID is ok. When pushed on whether the Dr would travel, he says “No.” LOL @ the idiocy of my firm.
What activities and hobbies have you picked up during covid-19? I find my typical activities getting more and more mind numbing the longer this drags on and am looking for some suggestions off the beaten path.
I created the biggest rift I’ve ever had in my family when I left mid-covid for my first industry job, moved to a new city, started dating what I thought was the love of my life… only to come full circle. I’m forever the black sheep, got fired from a shit job, this city sucks, and he’s a half ass som’bitch that wasn’t worth it. Humble pie anyone? I’ve got a dump truck load over here… for fucks sake
Anybody hiring junior account, media, or strategy roles? I know a recent college grad who has done an internship as a social media manager and helped to promote businesses on their personal social media. Hard worker with relevant experience.
Any GA, NC or SC agencies hiring?
How important is it to use referrals for FAANG+ applications? I read someone who said it doesn't make a difference but I still see a lot of people ask for and offer to do referrals.
Any insight into firm culture at Greenberg Traurig? Austin or Texas offices specifically
Looking for recommendations on a good book/resource on how to manage people, especially when you’re managing teams to achieve tight deadlines and also overall leadership for those teams. Currently on a project with tight regulatory deadlines and feel like I’m struggling to push people without pissing them off. Great learning curve for me and a good read seems timely. TIA!
Looking for (adaptive, preferably) educational technology for ELA to be used in classrooms as both enrichment for students identified as gifted as well as re-teaching, offering helpful support for students who struggle. Has anyone found anything that does both well? Looking especially for a tool that teachers can get behind and that students enjoy/find easy to use. What do you love? What do you hate? This would be targeted to grades 1-6 primarily, but it needs a high ceiling.
Hi Fishes , Any program/project managers here ? What do you think is the future of technical program management in India ? Is it for mba grads who are comfortable with technology Or should only pure techies get into it ?
Life as a teacher is difficult. It is stressful as a those in the medical and law enforcement profession. These are simple facts that people don't get about what we do.
At the start of the month, I spoke to a CD about a spot at his agency, an agency I really want to be a part of. He said my salary request was a bit high & told me his limit. Fine, still interested. After a couple of weeks of nothing, their recruiter calls me on Thursday to tell me more about the role and the agency. Then says the salary parameters and it’s $5k less than what he said. I told her the number he gave & she said she’d talk to him. Did I just tryin my shot? And when should i follow up
What are everyone's thoughts on the link between performance and reward? Will this continue in the future? Has anyone moved away from ratings and if so how does it work? 🤔
Gah I secretly hate work events that are "casual" dress (in this case chicago promotion day) I never know what to wear. Why can't everything just be business casual it keeps things simple 😬
Would any McK Specialists be willing to chat? I’ve been contacted for such a role, and am wondering whether it’s true consulting or more “middle office.” Don’t want to be a second class citizen if that’s the case so hoping to understand more
Hi everyone. I interviewed for a sales role at Amazon. I was told the role was an L6 and I can stay based in Chicago. Well, the recruiter emailed me today saying the hiring team felt I was better suited for an L5 role (estimated total comp is $140K-$150K) and I would have to move to Seattle. They'll send me an offer if that works. Any advice or opinions on how to negotiate? For context, I gave a desired salary range of $280K-$310K since this was an L6 role, and my current TC at P&G is $200K.
Staffing For a Project-Based World. What models are you all using when it comes to building your departments to meet the demands of clients who are shifting to project-by-project relationships?
Currently work at AWS in Business Intelligence and am looking to transfer into Product Management. Looking at MBB eventually. In my experience, most people from MBB have FAANG as their exit op. Why?
Anyone know if companies are doing virtual holiday parties and if so, what are they doing? I’m tasked with planning mine, but if I have to sit on another awkward zoom happy hour I might just explode. Open to suggestions or ideas. My team is spread out internationally, so even sending a stupid “swag” gift is next to impossible.
