No. Let’s all keep in mind that although we, myself included are in tax, you can ALWAYS pivot. Dig deep and figure out what it is you want to do. A degree doesn’t define you. Five years in tax doesn’t pigeon-hole you. You can do and be whatever and whoever you want to be. Leverage your experience. Stay true to yourself. The sky is the limit my friend.

No. I had a tax manager leave to be finance manager. I had a tax sr manager be a fund CFO. You just have to talk the talk on non tax matters.

For the majority, yes. The ones who get out of tax typically do so early or network very well. For example, going tax to FP&A is the exception not the norm.
Yeah, that’s what I found. 6 months of looking for an industry pivot and actively avoiding other PA firms. Gave up and went with PA once again.
Still in tax but I had no problem getting interviews and offers on the typical senior accountant roles
