It’s worth asking esp if you’re in final rounds. But you can also see if the 2 other companies can expedite your final round since you already have an offer. They’re usually willing to do that
I’ve never had an issue with asking for more time but I try to be as transparent (as possible)
There are some potential approaches in here that a career coach compiled: Some might resonate with your situation: https://hbr.org/2022/03/how-to-manage-a-job-offer-when-youre-still-interviewing-elsewhere
Ooooh this is a good resource!
Tell the other companies you already have an offer and they’ll hurry up. I don’t think you can ask for more than 5 business days without irritating the company who made the offer and make them second guess why they made the offer. They may also feel like you’re doing it just to squeeze more money out of them. Think from the company’s POV: they have other candidates who may be a solid second choice and who may no longer be available in two weeks.
Following! I have the same query, imagine it depends on the size of the company and business need too.
I am in a similar situation (getting offers from 1-2 companies this week but still wrapping up a third company interview process and want all offers before deciding).
My mentor made a good point about the situation to me - one week isn't going to change that much for the company that's given you an offer already.
I'd be transparent about the situation and ask for the time you need to make an informed decision, but also tell any straggling companies that you're getting offers so they can escalate their process.
Tell whoever you’ve been communicating with that you’re waiting on other offers so they’re aware of what you have going on.
Don’t be like the candidate I just had who went radio silent for a little over a week after the offer was made. That’s not a great look. Communication is key, most people will understand if you’re waiting on other companies before you make a decisions
You can tell them you're going through the final round at another company but you'd be willing to commit right now for $x
Transparent communication to all parties (including the companies who have not yet made an offer). If any company is turned off by this, that is not a company you would want to work for anyway.
