Is it typical for Recruiting at MBB to be a shitshow? Recently concluded a months-long interview process with BCG Platinion that left a bad taste in my mouth. Constantly having to follow up with the recruiter, lack of transparency in regards to role or level, contradictory feedback, and a rushed case interview. Producers: myself and other freelance editor friends have a question we’re struggling with. Why do people so often reach out and ask us for holds with no information what the project is? A lot of us won’t give 1st holds without making sure it’s something we are interested in so this seems like a lose-lose for all of us. Are there certain industries that lend themselves closer to pure strategy projects? For example, i’ve found in Fin services less strategy and more ops work due to nature of the industry whereas life sciences feels closer to pure strat given product launches, market entry work, etc… any thoughts on the MBB side?

Would you lateral from B4 into McKinsey as EM or take an industry offer that is $50k more in TC (thank MCK offer) and better wlb? The biggest push against taking the industry offer is that I’m not sure that i am super passionate about the industry or want to commit to that industry for the longer term.
