Is it unhealthy to not workout so that I can keep my calories lower and diet in check? I notice that when I workout my appetite increases dramatically and it is much harder to stick to my diet. I feel like I should be exercising for the other health benefits but right now my focus is weight loss, and dropping my covid weight gain ASAP. Usually a gym goer - light weights and cardio 4/wk - but since gaining weight I’ve found my usual gym routine leaves me starving. Any advice?

Sometimes thirst can mask itself as hunger so drink lots of water.. also some proteins last longer than others, eggs digest very quickly while plain Greek yogurt lasts much longer

I avoid cardio for this reason and focus on weight training. I find that it affects my calorie consumption less and I'm less likely to "binge"

This. I replaced my intense cardio for walking more ( pro tip: make sure you eat before your walks otherwise you can be like me and have a tendency to go grab fast food on those walks 😓)

Is it unhealthy to not engage in physical activity. Most likely.

Consider the type of workouts you do abs the timing of your meals. Rigorous cardio can and often does stimulate appetite. It also doesn’t build muscle.

Lift and walk. Walking does not stimulate appetite.

Time your meals appropriately.

Consider fasted cardio. Research suggests that this helps with post-workout appetite.

Consider nutrition and sodium. Many times cravings fir sugar are really cravings fir salt or fat.

Consider hydration. Many times we eat when we really need water.

No, I don’t think a lack of exercise is a healthy approach to weight management. It’s not just about calories but the quality of the food you eat.

Received a verbal job offer on Tues. $5k short of what I had said was my desired range but still up from my current salary. We set up a call for Thurs to discuss further. On Wed they sent me all benefits info. Thursday on the call I asked if we could either increase moving stipend or get closer to my desired salary. They said no, and I asked them to send over written offer and I would let them know by Fri. They then email they are no longer offering me the position and repost it the next day:

Disclaimer: I know I should talk to a doctor and I’ve talked to 2. Looking for anecdotal info now. Anyone continuously testing negative even though they’re pretty sure they have Covid? I’m vaxxed and boosted and was exposed to someone for 30 min who now has Covid. I have a sore throat. Can’t imagine it’s anything other than Covid (although I spent the entire weekend outside getting cold so could be a head cold I suppose) but all 6 tests (PCR included) are negative. So weird

Anyone else get frustrated when a manager ‘thinks’ they’re being helpful by actively telling you that a lot of the stuff you do to help manage your ADHD is unnecessary and there’s a better way to do it? Like they mean well, but even when I try to tell them I do it for a reason they think I’m just being difficult - e.g. work in a team room with headphones on, have a physical to do list, have a bunch of tabs/docs open at one time, bring a second monitor, take regular short breaks etc.

S&P500 has been gaining value at historically high rates for over a decade. For it to return to its 100 plus year average of 8-9%, it has to slow down. The interest rates will go up - given that we have serious inflation - pretty soon. Long story short, we may be looking for a lost decade in 2020s in terms of S&P500 returns. What do you think about it?

Recently accepted a temp role as an HR admin for a former employer. Previously interned there & left because my supervisor did not have any growth opportunities planned out for me; this was in spite of my stellar performance, as reflected in my 90 day review. She has since left the company, but there’s crazy turnover in the company & in the HR department in particular. Just that an HR coordinator resigned. Is it worth going back into a dumpster fire w/ no leadership to gain experience?

My sister always complains about wanting to lose weight (I weigh ~30 pounds less than her) but when I offer her solutions she turns them down. I tend to eat vegetable-focused and high protein meals when I cook and avoid processed carbs (except when I go out of course). She says my diet is too restrictive when I tell her I can give her recipes and make a grocery list for her. Her problem is she wants to be able to eat rice and pasta for every meal and thinks she doesn’t need to reduce that. WWYD
