Hi! I’m new here.
New to Fishbowl?

I know that at the end of the day, this is work and political matters have no place there, but the lack of engagement has left me feeling a bit isolated, especially as I am the only Black person in that division

I get it. I've had some reach out and others not. The problem is no one knows how to respond. On the one hand, no one reaching out is deafening. Everyone reaching out is emotionally draining. I myself don't even know what I prefer. What the right balance is. I had a few texts from friends that I had to sit on for a few hours before responding.
I feel you, the right balance is hard, coupled with the fact that we don’t know who is being genuine. Sigh, even when we need emotional support/acknowledgement of our troubles, we still need to be suspicious and alert.😔
It's not unreasonable at all. I see some of my leadership setting up calls to talk with the whole group, and others sending out awkwardly worded emails, and others doing nothing at all.
I know leadership is scrambling behind the scenes on tactics for a response, but it just highlights the fact that they clearly haven't been fostering a culture that makes it easier to talk about things as they occur.
I don’t expect anything from them, even if they do or say something it won’t be genuine. Only to fill some do nothing diversity initiative or marketing campaign
I'm disappointed as well but I'm also with C1. I don't know what the right balance is, but I just want it to be acknowledged that we are hurting. I'm the only black associate on my team. Everyday has been business as usual and it's disheartening 😔
No, I am as well.
I’m white and I’ve said something to my POC friends at work, and POC coworkers on my project. Just reaching out to share my thoughts, let them know they can share if they want (or not), and let them know what I’m doing in my personal life to support change.
I, too, am a little surprised you are in this bowl but since you are here, I am curious to know how your black peers responded to your message.
Nope.
