Is it weird that I’m the only one at our office that enjoys suspenders? I always get compliments, and can’t seem to figure out how it’s not a thing...

You get compliments because it’s different and stands out...like the guy that has the handlebar mustache.

Don’t call them suspenders, they’re Braces. Wear your braces proudly and if you can tie a bow tie, you’ll really have them in awe!

likefunnysmart

Agree! Bow tie is classic

I’m just waiting for them to come back in style!

Suspenders make more sense from a utility stand point. Belt are basically belly tourniquets to hold up your pants. Only plus side to belts is if you work out to help show off a nice butt.

like

Wearing a belt with a suit looks weird to me

Nah not weird. Different but nobody should care

Braces (suspenders) are really underwear. If you wear them, you should be wearing a jacket too. People aren’t supposed to see them.

That being said, they’re infinitely more comfortable and logical than belts and sidetabs, especially for those of us that are a little soft around the midsection.

If it’s your style rock it. I’m the only person who wears the occasional vest and/or brooch bow tie (I’m a woman). Part of the beauty of the flexible dress code is being able to dress up as much as you like.

I work with one other associate in my group. We are the same class year. They’ve been slow for a few months (guessing around 90-110 based on what they tell me). I’ve averaged 180ish/month during the same period. The partner keeps staffing me on new matters but isn’t staffing them on anything (even though I’m slammed some weeks). I think they are going to get let go, but I don’t have it in me to tell them. Has anyone dealt with this situation before?

I’m a firm believer that a manager should develop a positive relationship with employees, but I don’t want that to be an invitation to disrespect my authority. How do you know where to draw the line to make this distinction clear?

How do I handle a situation where a supervisor questions comes off as she sees me as stupid and is belittling me? In the beginning of week, I was scheduled spilt between her client and another, and she felt I was responsible to tell her. We all have access to the schedule. When on this other client, she wanted to do call. I responded I was at a client, and she was upset and believed I should respond her questions concerning her job. I was in a conversation with a client at the time.

Rant: 2nd year associate here. One team I am staffed on has a midlevel that was hired in 2021 from a non-traditional route. I hate to be biased but I am so tired of this person not knowing the basic things a first year would know (to copy teammates for discussions relating to the matter, to read matter emails that are not addressed to you, and really the most basic substantive law on this subject). Fyi, I like my other seniors/mids in my firm that are homegrown/lateraled from other big law.

I joined a corporate firm as a multi year experienced paralegal. It seems however that I am not necessarily welcome by other paralegals in the Dept., a few negative comments to partners about me. Obtaining assignments feels much like a popularity contest. Any advice on overcoming the negative vibes? My fear is that there is a negative reflection about me and the managing partner doesn't seem open to me, even though I haven't had the opportunity to work for him or the others yet.

Hello Infoscians/Ex-Infoscians!

I will be joining Infosys this Thursday as a 7+ YOE Tech Lead. I am an avid trekker and every year I go on a trek at least once which requires me to take a 5-7 working days off. Its actually my passion.

Just wanted to know how difficult it is to get leaves approved and officially before how many days do i need to inform my manager?

Is there any SOP for applying leaves at Infy?

Thank you in advance!

I was approached on LinkedIn for an early career recruiting role in DFW, TX. I don't have direct experience, but I have the university experience/connections from working in career services. This is the first time I've considered work outside of higher education. I said my salary expectations are minimum $90k and that didn't seem to be an issue. Am I asking too little, too much? How can I know I'm getting the best salary and not just settling at the low end of the range?
