Depends how long you’ve been there! I felt a pang of nostalgia after leaving my first place but thankfully retained most of my friends from there (even though they’ve also left). Keep in touch and look back on the good bits. Emotional attachment is healthy (in moderation).

Don’t equate your emotions with weakness.

If you had a great time at your first job, it’s totally normal! It’s okay to outgrow a place even if you’ve had fun being there.

Why would this be a sign of being “weak”? You’re human. We spend more time at work with coworkers than we do with our own families. Totally normal to be emotional about leaving.

I think if you have been there for any length of time, it’s more weird to not be emotional when leaving. Every job that I had that was a good experience, I was a little emotional when leaving.

I had same, I think it’s totally normal considering that you spend so much time with this people, you know them not only on professional but personal levels, would say you’re lucky that you had such a great workplace that got teary when leaving.

Totally normal

It’s always the people. That’s what you’re gonna miss. Not the job, necessarily. But keep in touch with those co-workers. The inside jokes hold up.

It’s very normal! I turned in my 2 weeks notice at my job . My first corporate job and even tho I did it for a better opportunity, I feel very sad and sick . We are Humans

Nothing weak about that, you just value relationships and human interactions.

Hitting off the right dynamic with the right team in any job is more important than anything for me. And so naturally I understand 100% how you feel coming from the same boat. Stay strong and good luck in your new endeavor!

You get used to these things after awhile. People come and go in your career as you get older and you never see or hear from them, again. Similar to high school. Your personal life ifs where the lasting relationships need to be.

like

I get teary eyed every time I move on. It’s natural to miss your work family, as odds are you spent more time with them awake than your own! But don’t let the nostalgia and camaraderie hold you back. Use those you’ve met to build your network and propel you forward! You’ll do great with just a little nudge 🙂

like

Not weak at all. Emotions are normal and shows you build great relationships.

like

I believe that it’s normal if you’ve built strong relationships with your colleagues

like

Totally normal! I recently left a company where i worked for over 8 years and I was very emotional leaving.

like

It's normal to feel emotional but the major reasons for those tears is due to the relationship you share with your fellow workers, the fun time and the memories 😒

like

Hello everyone

like

I hope it is normal because I have felt emotional leaving a few of my jobs, especially those early in my career. You go through massive growth in those roles and build a network of peers and friends that a part of you doesn’t want to leave. It means you are human and also that those were great months/years of your professional career.

like

Building strong relationships at work means you’re a solid professional and good networker. You never know when people will come in handy in your future and help you with a job. Also good to remember that you’ll always meet more people and develop new relationships that will be just as fruitful in the future 🙏🏻
