Yes
Absolutely.
Not really. Especially if your home base is a delta hub. Not sure whether the ‘status inflation’ will be under control in 2023, but based on 2021-2022, do not expect much in the way of first class upgrades. I guess the auto upgrade to comfort plus may be worthwhile to some.
I was a platinum for 5 years and a diamond for a year in between. I had my first kid rite before the pandemic and fell down to gold. The comfort + upgrades alone are worth it to me and not to mention the choice award of 20k miles.
You truly start seeing status benefits at platinum and when you do travel during off peak hours first class is not a stretch especially to smaller cities.
Mileage run is only worth it for Diamond
It’s not worth it for Plat anymore esp when traveling hub to hub. Roughly 51% of travelers are plat & rarely get upgrades to FC when traveling hub to hub.
I was thinking of buying a D1 one way ticket from NYC to LA to hit plat in December for $1,200.

Lol. Does it even make sense that half of the people on a delta flight are platinum? So 1 out of 2 people spends $9k a year on delta flights and flies 75k miles? What a joke.

What’s your home base and what’s your travel outlook next year?
Overall, I’d do it if you can turn it into a vacation but not if you can’t.
Nyc based and not sure of travel plans in 2023- highly dependent on job situation which I am currently working through
