Is it worth it to change jobs from a firm that you love for slightly higher pay? Was not happy with my raise but I’m not sure if it is worth it to switch. Any thoughts?

Don’t do it. There’s a lot to be said for loving the place you’re at. As they say in recruiting, the difference between firms is the people…

Love my current firm (GT/BDO/RSM), but I am jumping to big 4 for 50% more. Not sure one can really say no to that…

You should try to get an offer from a diff firm and use it to negotiate at your current firm

If you’re changing jobs, the rule of thumb is at least 20-30% increase.

Im in the same spot but I’d rather job security over uncertainty. We’re in a recession, anywhere you go, last one in is first one out when it comes time to chop heads. Im not risking my career for an extra $15k right now. We’ll make the money back long term

I was more referring to leaving PA and heading into industry. I believe job security in PA across the board is high right now and will probably always be, unless as Deloitte 1 pointed out, you are an under performer.

I’m personally going back and forth between staying in PA unhappy with my comp and being terribly overworked, or going into private now and risking getting laid off if things really start to hit the fan. It’s not like I’d be going into a controller or CFO position to offer me that stability

As someone else mentioned generally I would say 15+ percent should be expected to move if you enjoy your current firm. Another thing to keep in mind is that if you jump another firm will move you on the higher end of the pay scale assuming it’s not a promotion so your future raises may not be very much so that you will be in line with those who began at the new firm.

"Slightly" higher, nope. If there were other benefits to jumping then maybe.

What is the job role and salary package?

Hello fellow HR pros! I really need your opinions on HR certifications. I am deciding between PHR and SHRM-cp. I have read just about all there is online comparing the two and can not decide. My heart is telling me PHR, my mother in law (an HRBP) is telling me to go with SHRM, as it’s more widely recognized, more established and a larger network in general. I work for a 350~ company who is growing rapidly through M&A. Passions/interests are compliance, strategic vision, M&A, branding and culture
