Sample size of 1 but I joined Altman Solon from a T2 and it was the best decision. I would recommend it to someone who knows for sure they want to do TMT, find CDD work interesting (we do strategy work too but you won't avoid CDDs entirely), and if you think you'd excel in a smaller, less structured environment.
My old firm was so big and beauracratic and felt like there was a logjam ahead of me. Joining Altman I didn't have to worry about playing politics - there's so much room to grow in this firm that I was able to carve out Mt own lane very easily
Last consideration, depending on how senior you are, comp at Altman is better the higher you go up.
Probably not. If you want to focus on TMT and your current T2 won’t let you, then sure
Depends on what T2 you are at, what your current service is, and what your goals are….
you'll only find CDDs here too (potentially a VDD labelled as "strategy")
Going from a T2 to Altmon doesn't make sense. If you want to stay in consulting but are unhappy with your current projects, go to MBB. If you want to leave consulting, leave consulting
Hey. I made the jump from tier two (K/LEK/OW/EYP/S&/MD type). Only if you are passionate about TMT, makes a lot of sense. Faster growth, very competitive comp, interesting clients, good focused firm “energy”. The main difference however is leverage. With a full team that knows the sector/topic, delivery quality of life and client satisfaction and hence overall experience is much better in many cases.
