Is it worth it to mention that you received an early promotion in a job interview? Or is that too much of a brag or irrelevant?

Definitely sounds irrelevant. The job interview is about what you've done in the past, and how you can use that skill set to add value to the new firm. Telling them that you've been promoted early does nothing for them

If they ask how you are as a performer definitely mention it. Adds credibility

When the time comes mention it passively, otherwise don’t outwardly offer it because they might not give AF. They already selected you for the interview based on your resume, so chance are things like that aren’t going to add value.

I have made a large mistake - generalist consultant who spent most time in ppt and word but now am an investment associate at a PE spin off firm. I have no idea how to use excel nor understand any financials.. the interview process was 2 rounds and they’re paying me 70% more. Week 2 and I’m struggling and working 14 hour days.

Got a 44 V / 44 Q on a recent GMAT practice exam. I was a finance major at a reputable state school and have mostly A’s (and a few B’s) in my quant heavy courses. If I score similarly on the real exam, is the high V enough to offset the lower Q? Applying to T10. I’m a white female if it matters and am trying do either consulting or tech (i.e. nothing super quant intensive).

Chances for HBS/GSB? URM, 3.8 engineering from large state school, 720 GMAT, will have 3 YOE in consulting and on track for manager promotion by the time of applying. I’d say ECs are ok, but recommendations are strong. Already took gmat twice and don’t think i can feasible raise my score to match the school averages.

Need some insight — I’ve been talking to a guy who is pretty cool and we vibe well. It’s still early stages so nothing serious, but sometimes I can’t tell if he’s being self-centered in conversation or just trying to impress me. What are some indicators I should be looking for and is there a good way I can raise this with him? For context, he definitely expresses interest in me and my opinions, but he’s often one driving the conversations and we end up mostly talking about topics he brings up.

Hey everyone, I have been trying to break into the data science world as a strategy consultant. Have put in numerous hours after work and on weekends to learn programming/ DS and algorithms, ML, and statistics. I now have a pretty good resume of personal projects, but am having trouble getting any interviews. Should I go get an MS or keep on trying to find a job as a data scientist? Thank you for the advice.

Came out of a pretty toxic work environment and therapist has basically said I have PTSD. Trying to get past it, while aiming to excel in new team but finding it hard to voice my thoughts/opinions given previous experience. Also experiencing the beginnings of burnout, caring for a 4 year old and full time work. Oh and any thoughts of promotion are truly gone...any ideas on work strategy?

To those carrying.. did you stop drinking while trying to conceive? My husband and I just started and while neither of us are heavy drinkers, I’m wondering if cutting alcohol out is necessary? My concern is that we aren’t ready to tell our friends/family that we are trying, but I know if I turn down an offer for a glass of wine or something it will raise eyebrows and someone will ask. Trying to avoid the questions lol - but obviously if necessary will deal with it!

How soon is too soon to leave? I started my first real gig in advertising as a junior at a small agency about six months ago. However, after settling in, I’m realizing the account they have me primarily working is not interested in making good work, and prob not anytime in the near future. I’m being interviewed for a mid-level position at a bigger, better agency, but don’t want to cut bait unless it’s the right move. What should I do??

Thoughts on living in Hoboken? I currently have apt in East Village but haven’t moved due to covid and lease expires soon. I’m starting to like the idea of Hoboken, especially since my office will be in Hudson Yards. Post-covid, I also think I’m less tied to living inside Manhattan too. I want space and feel like I could maybe even keep my car with me in Hoboken. Seems generally cheaper too, but I’m less concerned about price than quality of life. Would definitely prefer more bang for $. Thanks!

Potty training question for 21 mo- I am reading Oh Crap potty training & trying to find time to do this over a LONG weekend probably Thanksgiving as it will give me a good lead of one month to practice with my child. In the meanwhile, her daycare has started teaching potty training. When home my LO removes pants, goes and sits on potty by herself when she thinks she wants to pee with the diaper on as that is not something she can remove easily. What approach do you think is the best here?
