Personally, after years at startups in a closing role, I joined a large company and an SDR and learned so much more than my whole career as an AE. I was promoted after 6 months but for me I had a better foundation. Chase good companies that have identity and are willing to train you. Experience as an AE doesn’t necessarily make you good. It’s the training you get. Play the long game
Does it guarantee you’d have more earning potential in the future? What are the pros of the job title versus what you have now?
In my opinion, titles are less important than accomplishments. Can you accomplish more as an AE? If you can then perhaps it’s worth it.

Calculate OTE. Ask if you’ll be getting any current clients with recent activity, and confirm your account list before accepting anything
Titles don’t matter. Are you in sales now? Do you want to be in sales? If this move helps you make that transition it might be worth it if:
- you will learn new skills
- you will learn new industry / domain
- you can make more based on your performance
No for the title, probably no for “startup / stock “ talk track.
