You're overthinking it. People in this bowl get so caught-up in school name. Booth is a great school and congrats on the acceptance/scholarship.

Can your goals be achieved at Booth?
Imagine if Sundar Pichai or Warren Buffet or Satya Nadella waited a year and re-applied cuz they didn’t get into HBS
FYI !!! Buffett got rejected at HBS!
You’re being crazy
Do you have an action plan to get to HBS next year- Improving on what you may have missed this year? And do you have time to get it done? I understand your position, but a bird in the hand is better than 10 on a tree.
You should decline Booth and specifically tell admissions you want to transfer your scholarship money to me 🤣 🤣
I know I will achieve my goals at Booth and I know it is a great school. I was excited to get accepted and I’m so grateful for it but I’m going crazy thinking about HBS haha I have a stupid fascination with the school. I didn’t even apply to Wharton or Stanford because I knew I would always choose Booth over any other school other than HBS haha. Also, I have no idea if I can actually get in next year or no, probably no 😂
Man, that would be brutal but fair point

Come to Booth :) join the discord, and we’ll try our best to get you excited and make you feel at home!
HBS or bust
Mentor
If you are hell bent on top tier PE/VC I think Hbs has an edge. Otherwise it really doesn’t matter for almost anything else you’d do and there’s a high risk of failure. Chasing brand names is also meaningless past a certain point- every firm outcounsels HBS grads just the same as any other grad if they don’t perform. I’m sure there’s incremental value of the name brand and network but to throw away a very good bird in the hand for an uncertain chance seems problematic.
The only reason to try again is if you have a really solid game plan. On paper Booth with scholarship makes a lot of sense, but this is your life and there’s something to be said for solving for lack of regret later in life and not having to wonder “what if”. If you decide to try again you will need to execute flawlessly (and the reality is even that might not be enough given HBS is a crapshoot for everyone). High risk/reward situation.
S1 - The more I think about it, the more taking Booth with scholarship makes sense in light of OP’s responses. Agree it’s high risk/low relative reward.
if you got rejected already from hbs this year, your application next year has to really show how you are different from your previous year’s app that makes you even more qualified than the previous year. That is a very very high bar to pass - one more year of work and a few more points on the GMAT won’t cut it.
