Is it worth switching from mid-tier CPA firm to big 4 with only 10% raise?

If the hours would improve (unlikely), maybe it’d be worth it. I’ll lean towards no.

You already know how bad it is at mid tier. You don’t know how bad it is at big 4 these days. Money alone isn’t worth it and chances are you’ll work a lot more (depending on the office). I would only do it if you really think you need the big 4 name on your resume

someone i know did it for 5 percent lol

tbh I say no lol

If u really really want B4

Yes if you’re planning on sticking around in PA for a couple more years and are joining at a time when your next promotion wouldn’t be delayed (i.e. start by December at the very latest if you intend to get promoted to manager next year, or perhaps better to wait and join as manager). Resume does look a bit shinier and it beats bouncing around several small clients. I in-charge a big integrated audit and it’s 2.5 months of hell and the rest of my year is 40 hour weeks and lots of PTO.

In B4 PA, w/ the rating system and so many other factors, there is never a time when "your next promotion wouldn't be delayed". They can always find a way to not promote you if they want.

I would ask their billable / requires hours, check what you’ve done at work, do the math to see if it’s really worth the jump per hour.

Yes, 10% is fair if (1) you are staying in audit and (2) you are already on the high end salary for your level People don’t go to Big 4 for the money, they go to eventually exit into a nice industry job that pays a lot. Some doors might be closed to you without the Big 4 name in the future

Does it at all depend on the actual experience that you get at B4?
