Is it worth to go with design role as a mechanical engineer?
Please someone clarify how the life pf designers im just graduated and done design courses too now.

For those of you who successfully “pivoted” into a project manager role … what specialty (technical Pm, Marketing PM, social impact PM, etc) did you find was the best to get your foot in the door ? I really enjoy marketing but lack concrete experience so no luck….

Any HR people on here able to explain why its harder to push through a promotion than to promote within?

Looking to pivot from biotech to big tech in a less technical role (bizops, analytics, implementation manager) . I have a degree from Stanford in Biology (c/o 2021) and experience leading technical client implantations, but feel like companies just see my degree isn’t finance/CS/ statistics, and throw out my application. Am I overthinking? And what certifications have you seen help boost a person’s resume?

For reference, I have a MS and a JD with 1 year in biotech and 3 years in biglaw pharma regulatory/litigation.

Best exit opportunities for 2 years of public accounting experience doing tax and audit at small firm in mid cost of living area? I also have 3 years as an AP person in a multinational tech firm before public. Not sure if I should focus on corporate tax analyst roles, GL, or SEC reporting. Or if I should try to jumó to Diana cual analyst. Mainly want to make more money and work like 35-40 hours (currently at 70k). No CPA yet but working on exam.

How to build on DSA and related stuffs. Opportunities after PwC exit is very good but most of them are focusing very much on Data Structures and Algo. Now the thing is common Java related data structures needed for application development are okay and Java frameworks are also fine but the next steps is where I am facing issue(non CS background with 4+ exp). Super niche fields—- I’m a solo and I’m always interested in researching super niche fields to add to my offerings, which is currently mostly a transactional business practice. Example- I know a Employment attorneys who focus on specific claims against specific employers, and others who focus on really limited aspects of the tax code. What are your super niche fields?

2017 grad so technically a 4th year. Lateraled to a CRE boutique in NYC that’s a major player. Learned quickly that my experience/knowledge/organization is not up to par (was a COG in the machine at prior firm). Just had EOY review and, though positive sounding, they’re dropping me to a 3rd year to ensure I’m not billing as a 4th year and able to do the work to learn/get up to par. I feel pretty okay about it (market salary deduction notwithstanding), but want to make sure I’m not being naive.

In other industries exiting after a few months for a diff opp is a faux pas. Is that the same when jumping from in-house to in-house? Having difficulties getting along with my new boss and thinking of jumping ship. Ofc I will try my best to make it work but curious what the consensus is.

I want to ask for a 20%raise, knowing that the company is planning the year budget around now should I give my manager a heads up as to what I’m expecting before my salary review? I got a 0.6% raise at the start of 2020 and a 4% in April this year.
