Is it worthing leaving a managerial permanent role in FMCG to get to a contract individual contributor role in META which offers circa 70% more money than the permanent?

Role is for 12 months which can become 24 or permanent

The experience and higher comp will put you in a much better position to find a permanent gig making significantly more than your current role, and it's highly unlikely that you won't find something similar at a minimum.

I would also suggest that you don't adjust your lifestyle, and put all the extra money in the bank. That way you'll have a cushion when it comes time to start interviewing, and you'll be able to do so with 100% confidence. You also won't have the pressure of matching new lifestyle expectations, such as maintaining a new higher mortgage or car payment.

You will have renewed confidence, broader experience, and a higher salary to speak to. There is always risk when starting a new job, more so when it's contract, but you will be much better positioned in the job market in general. Having Meta at the top of your resume is also worth something, that in of itself suggests that you are capable of performing at a certain level.

Hell yeah. Plenty of time to find something else or boomerang back

like

I agree with the others about the pros of experience, higher comp, and ability to bounce back to another good role if/when necessary. My only concern would be that META's financials look terrible and the company has lost like 3/4 of its market cap this year. Could be a rough road ahead.

Protip: If you're trying to get a referral/coffee chat at an obscure company or one that doesn't have a lot of Fishbowl user participation, you can "search" for the company name you're targeting, filter by "people," and now you see everyone on the app who works for that company. You can scroll down to the title most relevant to the position you're seeking, and cold message them for a referral. Just be extra polite, because you're reaching out to them, not the other way around. E.g., Starbucks:

Anyone having trouble opening a vanguard Roth IRA via their website? I have not been able to create an account for the last few weeks. I’ve tried calling but been put on hold for far too many hours. Should I just use a different brokerage? If I choose a different one can I still buy vanguard ETFs, because those are really the ones I wanted.

Will McKinsey & Company have a case interview portion during the recruiter screening for an Associate-level opening. This is my first interview with them.
The recruiter mentioned that it will only be an audio (Zoom) call, not a video interview. I sort of assumed that there won't be a case interview portion because it is an audio interview with the recruiter. Is my assumption true? I don't want to ask the recruiter with the interview coming up in the next 2-3 days, as it might set a bad opinion.

Originally interviewed for Community Relations Coordinator for set asking salary of $65k. Now owner wants to change title to Branch Manager, increased responsibilities, but primarily still CRC role. Same salary and now will decrease to $50k after one year with an increasing commission rate. The idea behind this is motivation to earn more than set salary. At this point, I need the income and am not planning on staying longer than the year, if that. Is it worth negotiating? Any advice welcome.

First year question, do people usually give something to their assistants during the holidays? Context (contd).

I applied for and was screened by HR for a Director position. It wasn't a good fit but I was passed over to another VP. I had a phone interview with that VP which went very well. He expressed interest in creating a Director level role for me based on my experience and interests. I received feedback via a 3rd-party recruiter that the company is in the process of creating a req. and will bring me on-site for another interview. Problem: They changed the level to Principal Eng. What should I do?

Currently job hunting. I know a few retired C-level executives who tell me that they would hire me at the director level in pretty much any role (despite currently being an individual contributor) because I'm extremely driven, a life-long learner, a natural leader, and deeply educated in diverse fields (PhD in engineering and MBA in analytics). However, I can't seem to land a senior role. How do I convince an executive to take a gamble on me based on my past success and strong future potential?

I have to decide on the first offer by Thursday but I haven’t heard back from the second yet. Thoughts on next move?

Can anyone offer advice?
