Who cares?

Mean? The question is absurd.

Ummm no. Consume books the way you want to! (maybe not actually consume them though. think that's really bad for your digestion)

I'm calling the Goodreads police on all of you audiobookers

I listen on long drives, walks/runs, and during some chores— particularly painting a room or cooking an involved meal. Keeps my family away and gives me some “alone” time.

?? Cheating at WHAT?

Okay to clarify, in your mind, if you just listen to the audiobook do you consider that reading the book?

Damn C2 that’s deep lol

Lol cheating? I listen to a lot of audiobooks, when I travel, work out, cook, etc. I’ve been able to get through ~15 a year as opposed to before when I would read 1 every 2 years. The only downside I see is that audio books don’t help nearly as much with learning new words. When I read I pick up new vocabulary and my grammar / spelling gets much better. Not as much with audiobooks.

The audiobook is the book read to you. You are basically reading the book with the help of hopefully a better sounding voice. Don’t feel guilty. It’s And efficient way to get through Books and get it.. Now getting cliff notes....LOL

I did a roadtrip this summer and debated the same thing. Ultimately decided they count as legit!

Who cares.. I mean if I am reading to inform people that I read books then yes it's cheating but then there may be people who would be disappointed if you are reading it on kindle or phone.. because you know reading a physical book where you can smell the paper is the right thing to do Anyways on a serious note. I love listening to audiobooks (I use audible) started it in 2015 and now a premium plus member. My book reading/listening tremendously improved when I switched (from 5-6 books a year to over 20 now). It will take some time getting used to... I listen it while cooking, working out, driving, when I am bored, before going to bed, and sometimes just because I am enjoying the book. Once a habit is formed it's so much easier to maintain than a traditional book because you don't have to sit down and keep your hands occupied. If you're starting.. try something fun don't jump immediately into heavy books, get used to it.. also audible has samples so if you don't like a narrator's voice don't get it. All that matters is if you can understand the book and take your time to finish a book and do you enjoy it.

Uh oh. Ruuuuunnnnn!!!!! LOL.

I love Audiobooks so so so much. I’m with the other evangelists on this threads. I freaking love it and I get so much exposure to incredible writers and amazing stories. I listen to about 30-40 hours per month, primarily on runs which I do 4x a week, but also when I’m cleaning, knitting, or cooking. The stories stay with me, and I often associate things with where I was and what I was listening to.
