Is WLB better at Bain?
Bain & Company What is the likelihood of making SAC in September 2022 if I join as an AC on April 18th at Bain & Company? I am a senior consultant at EY with 3.5 years of experience in Data Analytics. Or is March 2023 more realistic? They told me 6 months for promotion but it seems like the two promotion cycles with my different start dates give me 4 or 9 months of experience, nothing in between. I’ll be joining in the private equity group which will be new for me.
Hello,
Last Wednesday I was able to get a Deloitte job referral, I applied the next day. Yesterday I signed in to my account and it shows that I applied for the job but when I click on the link it show me an error page. I searched for the job on the website itself and it disappeared. There were like multiple positions but different locations, now they’re all expired. What does this mean? Did they choose a candidate already? It’s weird it never happened to me before
Thank you in advance 🙏🏻

Manager (previously called Case Team Leader) is quite similar to a first year EM or PL in terms of responsibility, but is an automatic title adjustment after 2 years as a C. You’ll typically find yourself in one of two setups:
1) Managing a sub team (teamlet) of 2-3 and reporting into an SM or AP (sometimes a P)
2) Running a full M+3/4 case (usually towards the end of your M year)
That was pretty similar to my friends at McK/BCG who would either be running small teams running teams stacked under a Principal. Bain just makes you prove yourself before being given the big promotion to SM. SM promotion is the hardest one in a Bain career
SMs always report into Partners. Standard team is still SM+4, but you’ll often be running up to an SM+7 with Managers/Senior Cons running teamlets
AP is an auto title bump after 2.5 yrs as an SM. You are an AP for 1.5-3 years and after about a year or so should be stepping up into the junior partner role.
Overall time to Partner from MBA is the same as BCG at ~8 years, the time spent in each role is just slightly different.

~400 for an SM1 this year
I’m also curious about case team lead, manager, senior manager at Bain. How are they mapped to McK/BCG
