Is maternity leave paid at your firm? My old smaller firm had paid leave and I’m now at a v100 firm with no published policy on maternity leave 😊

Really surprised to hear that. My firm has 24 weeks paid.

like

Wow what firm is that?

Yes, 20 weeks paid at v30. They should for sure have a published policy!

20 weeks paid is pretty standard. Definitely ask HR about this.

16 weeks fully paid maternity plus any accrued vacation (25 days). I find it very hard to believe they wouldn’t have a maternity leave policy so ask HR.

Some context: agency let go about 15% of the company a month ago. I was warned by my dept lead more layoffs could happen if we don’t win new business soon. I’m 35w pregnant.

What scenario (if any) is most likely:
- That I’m let go before my mat leave begins
- I’m let go during mat leave
- I’m let go immediately after returning from mat leave

Seems like potential PR nightmare for them, but I can’t ignore the fact that I was given a heads up that layoffs could happen.

Just need to vent - I joined a firm last year that is so, so, so, busy. Like I know you typically get hired when things picked up, but I was handed files that needed immediate action despite them knowing I’d need training in this new area.
