I agree with the list order, but I don’t think it’s worth it. I’m currently at GSB and consulting this cycle was far from a guarantee. Can’t imagine what it was like at other schools, unless you’re open to lower tiered consultancies or second tier markets.

like

Emory is a good school for ug but not MBA. I went to Emory for ug tho.

like

Would take out Carlson and add Indiana Kelley for consulting placement. If you associate consulting to be MBB or bust then it’s an up hill battle from these schools. On the other hand if you’re open to other firms - these schools are A okay

If you are good enough to get in top 20-25, you are good to get in top European ones. Try LBS, Insead, oxbridge, HEC, and the major Spanish ones

Lol. Oxford also places emphasis on the GMAT. Hence they report it in class profiles. They just can’t get the same caliber folks. Give me a break - “broader impact on the world” is a privilege as well. Being able to afford humanitarian trips because dad paid for his son or daughter to go to Africa or Asia for two weeks and masquerade it into something of community service.

It might be worth considering online part time programs. My friend is doing that at Georgetown and loving it.

like

Yeah, in fact their part time MBA is considered really well. But, after having had such a monotonous year at home, I want to go to campus, talk to new people and have fun!

like

Georgetown is more rigorous than all top 10 schools (except Stanford). I’m going to top 10 but I know many people who graduated from GTown and they didn’t have problem getting into whichever industry they wanted.

Bruh, MBA is about network and connections, not your average grad degree where GPA matters. You should know better.

Yeah I think so, if you’re ok with non MBB. My B4 strategy arm regularly recruits at McDonough, Jones, and Goizueta. I have seen one person from Carlson but I think that’s a one off. In my experience the interview is definitely not a function of school rank as long as the firm recruits there. Once you hit super day, it matters even less (than not mattering at all). My firm dings just as many people at CBS and Booth as they do at Haas or Tepper. I think MBB is a bit different because I think they allocate number of interview spots somewhat by school prestige level. But I believe once you get the on campus interview, they also don’t care.

This certainly helps. I'm not so much behind MBBs, so this advice is definitely quite helpful.

Sometimes. These schools are more local feeders, so yes if you want to stay in DC, Atlanta, Nashville, Houston or Minneapolis, and yes if you’re ok with boutique firms but MBB will be much harder

One of the current student at Darden, she is an Indian and so am I. She asked me to consider retaking GMAT, for she felt that average Indian engineer GMAT score at top schools is about 720. And to make up for low experience and an okayish GPA, I must either retake it or adjust with the schools. So, precisely this might make up why I'm not getting interview calls and that my GMAT is not particularly high belonging to an over-represented crowd. I appreciate you taking out time to consider this, any guidance is welcomed.

If you go to to Carson, you can get a job at target. The you will be a retail expert and move over to consulting as a manger. Not a traditional path but still a good one nevertheless.

MC1 chill TF out. I generally agree with you but SVP might know something we don’t (assuming you’re also in your 20s). S/he didn’t get to that title by being stupid.

And an additional question, how is Bingham Young's Marriott School, the only thing pulling me there is really low tuition fee. Under 50k.

Yep, my point exactly. The fees is the only positive thing.

Fishes, while going through the course structure and all of the McDonough School, I felt that it was too orthodox or rather confined. Like, who tf says meditation compulsory (got it from Applicant Lab module) I really feel claustrophobic already, I feel it has nothing just the location. Am I misinterpreting things?

Hi Tax Bowlers, I'm an experienced associate (2yrs) in a Big 4 Transfer Pricing division. I have reached a point in my career where I am considering taking up a professional certification. Several colleagues recommended taking up either ACCA or CFA, however, I see little connection between these certifications and the work that I am currently doing, and what I plan to do in the future. What would you guys suggest? Would it be detrimental to my career if I did not take up any certifications?

Currently an A3 in audit. My team communicated to me that they’re pushing for me to get mid-year promo (Jan 2022) but I’m also interested in leaving to another Big 4 for AAS as an S1. Current salary is $73.6k and am unsure of how much I should be going for to make the jump worth it. I know EY FAAS offered a friend $85k in my market but assuming I get mid year promo I’m not so sure the salary bump would be significant enough.
