Is going to Mother NY to work on Target or beauty worth leaving a less respected shop where I make fine, sometimes fun work and get paid well and have a great work-life balance?

Here’s the thing about Mother. It has a reputation for being a creative shop so people will automatically assume you’re good. It also opens doors to other creative shops as you move ahead in your career. So the question is more than working on Target or beauty, it’s getting an entrance to the rarified world of good creative shops down the road

Never work on beauty. Ever. But Mother is a great shop. It’s worth going to learn from talented people.

Why wouldn’t it be, unless there was some unspoken thing keeping you where you’re at?

I love Mother NY and that team in particular. Target is not an easy client, but their culture and attitude there is awesome.
