Is moving from ACN to Big 4 a lateral move or a move down?

You're going to get flamed for such a general question. It depends on practice, title, pay - each company has their strength and weaknesses in the market.

BtW, I am a P at Deloitte who was a MD at Accenture. So seen the best and worst of both over nearly 30 years.

You will make significantly more over time with big 4 if you stay to Partner. But ACN is an amazing organization that is often a step ahead of the big 4 when it comes to technology. Like others will point out - it is all trade offs.

PMO for life! Come join the PMO fun. You'll make trackers oriented vertically and then remake the tracker oriented horizontally. Make a project plan nobody wants to use and hold daily meetings to ask the client where they are at. "Are we there yet? No? Why?" Repeat.

Such a move down, I wouldn't do it if you paid me double

like

A move up boyo.

like

Depends on which big 4

like

Yea but generally lateral, sometimes up, rarely down except in some niche tech practices

like

Laterally on average?

Judging by the little thought put in the question, I'd say the only way is up....

Lateral

Sorry didn't realize all you jerks would be mad..... I'm MC with RPA and Salesforce Certs

Thanks to those who answered!

OP, where can you get the RPA certification?

If you're in Tech Consulting, it's a lateral for Deloitte and down for everywhere else. If you're MC it's a lateral or up. If you're strategy it's up. (Granted, I am biased given that I work for ACN:)

I know the UK pays less but I am seeing differences of $80-100k for Advisory M at one of the Big 4. Why in the world are salaries so low? And don’t say healthcare. My healthcare is like $140/month for a PPO w low deductible. Plus taxes are less here. Makes the thought of a potential move over there hard :/

Decision time: I got offered a position with EY and also got an offer from a mid-tier firm. The mid-tier is paying about $14k more than the Big 4. Is it wise to just not consider the pay difference and just go Big 4 to have it on my resume? I could negotiate but I feel like the answer will be no.

Does it make sense to boomerang back to big 4 just to brand my resume for exit ops in moving to industry in the future? I’m two years away from manager and my plan is to leave public once I make manager. My thoughts are exit opps will be greater if I leave from a big 4 AAS group rather than leaving from my current middle market firm, but does it really matter leaving from a middle market vs big 4?
