Has anyone else left the B4 (industry or smaller firm) and felt like they just got out of an abusive relationship and have never been happier or did you realize the grass isn’t greener on the other side?
Was hired by a Big 4’s M&A tax practice to start in the Summer away from home. But I just recently received a tremendous offer with a Big law tax group in my hometown and there is no way I cannot take it—I’m a JD/LLM. How should I go about notifying the hiring partner at the Big4? Are there any repercussions I should be worried about? Pleas help.
I know the UK pays less but I am seeing differences of $80-100k for Advisory M at one of the Big 4. Why in the world are salaries so low? And don’t say healthcare. My healthcare is like $140/month for a PPO w low deductible. Plus taxes are less here. Makes the thought of a potential move over there hard :/
Thoughts on moving from Big 4 audit to Financial Advisory? Pay jump would be about 50%, but the new firm is small. $25M in revenue and new office in my city - I feel like there is a good amount of risk. I’m a S1 about to be a S2
Decision time: I got offered a position with EY and also got an offer from a mid-tier firm. The mid-tier is paying about $14k more than the Big 4. Is it wise to just not consider the pay difference and just go Big 4 to have it on my resume? I could negotiate but I feel like the answer will be no.
Long term which do you all see as more lucrative consulting for big 4 (assume you ultimately would make partner) or move to tech industry? We can debate WLB separately but this is purely money
I accepted an offer at Deloitte and start in three weeks. I am also in processes at another Big 4 and MBB. If I get substantial better offers from them, would it be crazy to leave D after a couple months? Start dates for other potential offers are Jan 3.

Does it make sense to boomerang back to big 4 just to brand my resume for exit ops in moving to industry in the future? I’m two years away from manager and my plan is to leave public once I make manager. My thoughts are exit opps will be greater if I leave from a big 4 AAS group rather than leaving from my current middle market firm, but does it really matter leaving from a middle market vs big 4?

Just found out my firm bases bonuses on billed out hours rather than actual billed hours. Any work a partner cuts before the bill is sent to the client or any non billable work does not count for the bonus. I am not happy. Is this enough to move firms over? This isn’t standard practice as far as I know?

Was laid off in April by midsize and have had few interviews in following months. Working with various recruiters yet still no traction. Hey Guys, I got an offer from IBM and wanted to understand how the PF deduction works. So the compensation breakup is like Fixed pay(basic+FBP) + Gratuity(4.8% of basic) + PF(12% of basic) Is the PF mentioned in the offer breakup, employers PF or employee PF? If its the employers PF, will the same amount(12% of basic) will again be deducted from my fixed as employee PF contribution?
