Is now a bad time to do rollovers? (In light of market changes)

Unless you are 59, still all in stocks, and about to withdrawal, these market changes are unnoticeable over a year period let alone 10+

uplifting

Sigh I can 🧘‍♀️

Wouldn’t this make it a fine time? If the market drops a ton that makes it an excellent time.

It’s pretty quick. If it goes up or down a percent or two that’s just luck. Sooner is better than later, IMO. If it drops a bunch, the conversion at a lower value almost pays for taxes on gains when it rebounds.

In theory, you’re just swapping funds from one location to another. Rollovers aren’t a taxable event, so gains and losses don’t really matter.

Blip on the proverbial radar. I don’t think it makes sense to try and “time” it

What kind of rollover are you talking about? The market is only a couple percent off its high so also not sure what changes you mean. Can you explain more?

You got my conundrum. I didn’t think about the partial roll overs. But I don’t think it will work because there’s a minimum I need to invest in the new fund and it’s pretty much all my 401k.

What’s the market change

When is a good time to do a rollover?

Bingo - just do the rollover

Op, currently in this process myself. Have about $90k rolling from accounts into a traditional IRA where it will just be straight cash. Part of me is excited to have this cash on the sidelines and have control over easing into the market and then being able to put a bunch to work SHOULD we see a correction. Not going to wait for one to start putting it to work but maybe we are starting to see some cracks and could get a healthy entry point if fed tapers stimulus and Covid continues

Ahhhh got you
