Progression is faster if you specialize early on in any practice. Most people are willing to give up 6 months of progression for the privilege of doing diverse work, learning different things, and building a broad network.
This is time to EM, so around 3 for a BA or 2 for an ASC. Comp difference between the two choices is zero or negligible. Rushing can also add some risk to the equation for further progression.
So imo it’s a bad choice for a generalist intending to stay over the long run. (And most I know who rushed to EM left at that level).
Nope, the pe practices of each firm does not provide a faster progression in title (e.g. associate to consultant). It’s the same timeline for promotion.
