I'm done after this. Only been 3 months.
i had started with the firm in july, had a 9/30 busy season and then a brutal 12/31 busy season (company had been purchased so we had a mess of PPA, OBS, etc.) where we were working past 2am for a month. i strongly considered leaving afterwards, i would have only been with the company about 6 months - the long hours were affecting my health, both mental and physical. a year later and another tough busy season (different client, first year 404), and im considering leaving again. and i have no shame about it. these hours are insane
We’ve lost a ton already. Remote environment + other companies not crashing and burning as expected = an even hotter industry market for accountants. I’ve never seen this many people up and leave mid busy season...
Haha so basically Stockholm’s syndrome has been keeping us in public
There’s been a mass exodus at my office last couple of weeks
There already is a bunch of turnover. In my groups we’ve lost 5 and gained 1 in the past 6 months.
Even people planning to stay in public are switching firms, because most firms are so desperate for people right now.
Chief
Yes. More than usual. Very easy to sit in front a screen at home for another employer. Cost of exit is lower than its ever been with WFH and the erosion of office culture and personal relationships.
I’m actually putting in my 2 weeks on Monday. Peace out B4
Our firm's offices in my state are all bleeding people like crazy. It's to the point I've started looking now in hopes to miss some of the competition
People are just leaving. No regard for busy season or not (which is as it should be).
Job market is hot. And most PA people think they are only allowed to quit after busy season. Hence the glut of exits
