Although Amazon has instituted a hiring freeze and layoffs are probably on their way, I went through the loop for a security engineer position at AWS. Before I attended the final interviews, Amazon placed the hiring freeze and called me to ask if I wanted to go ahead or cancel my application. I decided do go ahead Right now I'm waiting for their response and the position I applied to changed from "under consideration" to "no longer under consideration". Thoughts?

Finally found THE one, after over a year of searching and trying out at least 5 different ones!
A nice comfortable office chair.

My criteria: mesh seat and back, arms, headrest
I tried cheap ones from Amazon. Expensive, second hand gaming chairs. Tried HM Aeron (second hand) and while I didn't like the bulk and the general design, I was sold on the mesh seating. I wanted to get the ErgoChair 2 from autonomous, but it doesn't have mesh seat.

Pwc4 - The work is less exciting. Clients tend to be less than intelligent and inefficient at best. You have to deal with stupidity and ambiguity on a regular basis. Certifications and security clearances have more importance. The current dialogue from my partner is "you get paid leas but have more job security". Which is bullshit. You get paid less and the work life balance is typically better.
Yea assurance and tax are fine
I've never even heard that we had layoffs. Not in the public sector at least
What's the ps like p3? Im considering switch from commercial.
Accounting firms tend to downsize investment in their consulting/advisory divisions during periods of low economic growth. Investing in their accounting activity is a much safer bet
Yeah. Advisory was a little bloated. They hired a lot last year without having work ready for people. A lot of people spent months on the beach waiting for work that never materialized.
P4 Public Sector is very stable and pretty much no travel. You get on a project and it lasts for 6 months or a year...a lot more job security, but a lot more red tape in getting work. Dealing with the slow government here. I enjoy it. Still fast paced in that you work your ass off, but the Govt is not "quick" to make decisions...id recommend if you want more stability in consulting...
Thank you p3/p6. And this is all based in DC right ?
Yup
