Solid contribution M1.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
M1s contribution to this discussion is greater than the contribution any fancy paper will have to your interview prospects.
If you are asking the question, you should put it on the fancy paper. Trust your gut on these things. I definitely notice it, but it is by no means a deal maker/breaker. While you are at it, make sure the actual text and formatting on the resume is perfect, outcomes focused, and a good representation of you
Another M with a solid contribution. Thanks M2. You’re a peach!
Yeah - it’s a nice touch and signifies that you pay attention to detail (which I would take as a positive first signal as an interviewer)
I agree with C1. Not a make or break, but something I would notice
C1 clearly works for International Paper
Nope.
I’ve noticed that the most senior person, and typically the last, I interview with rarely has my resume
MD1: planning on having Cover letter, resume, and a list of references (if they ask for any). I also have to give a 15 minute presentation showcasing previous strategy work, so I’m scrubbing the exec summary of a recent project.
It doesn’t make any real difference since most people will have your resume already and the quality of paper certainly won’t make or break your interview. But I do think it signals that you’re serious, pay attention to detail and generally have your shit together more than someone who shows up with nothing or worse, looking sloppy with wrinkled paper or something. Focus on your content, but nice paper doesn’t hurt
I would think someone who printed on (noticibly “fancy”) resume paper is trying too hard/trying to make up for something. For something that should be digital in the first place, which they already have...no. Just no. Reminds me of the business card scene in American Psycho. But maybe that’s what you’re going for?
Companies I interview with have my resume. That includes a multi-director gauntlet. Even fresh out of college at a small firm. That said. Why the hell not.
Yeah, I'm with MD1, it'll backfire hard if I start looking at it like OOH DESIGN and then you've got misaligned margins or some weird justification.
Agreed. Always have your resume with you. What else are you going to keep in that portfolio?
Your resume got you the interview. Now it’s up to you to use the interview to get the job.
I cannot ever imagine rejecting someone because their resume was printed on normal paper. Just having it is so far ahead of being prepared that the little extra isn’t really worth it.
I would carry couple of them during the interview. Usually keep one for yourself so u can reference to it and explain in details. I have had this adtech company in nyc refused to interview me because I didn’t bring enough copy of my resume. Rude people but It was like 5 years ago
I don’t see any (reasonable) drawback to having it printed on nicer paper. At worst, it won’t matter. At best, you’ll make a slightly better impression
It’s a nice thought but probably the last thing you need to think about. Ideally there will be more talking than reading, and the impression they will be left with is how you came across in person, not on paper.
