Is severance period standard if a big firm lets you go?

Was laid off in Sept. Unfortunately we will be seeing many more coming. It's what happens in a recession. Unfortunately I now also have my age against me. Not in a mentally good place at the moment.

For recruiters, hiring managers, HR, or anyone with past experience — if I’ve been laid off (startup financial problems) and I’ve set my LinkedIn to “open to work,” should I also post something that says I’m looking? I saw someone post their resume + open to work and asked people to share with their network, and while I’m not willing to be quite that vulnerable, it made me wonder if there’s value in a post like that.

I'm a big four associate who was just fired by HR and a partner. I've only been at the company a few months and got a good review. HR said "the partners and I have discussed" without explanation. What can I do about this? They have no evidence of poor performance, and my team loves me. What's next? If I'm fired, can I apply for unemployment? I'm unsure what to think or do.

So I know that a lot of people are saying that EY is doing non performance based layoffs but I'm having a hard time believing that considering that I was just placed on a PIP last week. Why would the firm keep someone who's put on a PIP and drop perfectly good employees instead? Doesn't make a lot of sense if you ask me

I was a month in as Workday HCM Consultant with Accenture. They immediately throw me into the HCM courses to obtain my WD HCM certification. There are three parts HCM Essentials, HCM Applied, and HCM Practical. The passing score is 70 or above. I scored a 62 on the Essentials portion, I passed Applied, and at the end of this week Practical. During class, I received an “immediate connect” Team call and I was fired because of my low score. I'm devastated, and shocked. Yesterday was my birthday.

Is 2000 PQP possible in two status runs/ is 1K worth it? I’m fully booked out for my work trips and will be 2000 short of United 1K. I think I’ve been associating cost with PQP without realizing there’s another calculation going on. A $1100 last minute ticket California looks like it’s only worth 400 PQP which seems insane.

I don’t have many friends and I don’t have a best friend.. this really weighs on me. I moved around my whole childhood, had a short studying-filled college experience and as soon as I started working COVID hit. I feel really alone and I’m not sure what to do, everyone around me seems to have lots of long lasting friendships. Im hoping to get a bar course paid for, at least 5 weeks prior to the exam off to study (not using vacation time, no pay, but still keep my insurance), the week of the exam, and 2 weeks after the exam (those can be vacation days). I'm not sure if what I want to ask for is too much, too little, or just right. I wouldn't even ask for a signing bonus. Id be a 3rd year
