How do you solution something when you don’t know how the details work?

like

Solution Architect has broadly different meanings thought each company. The most typical I see in consulting: "Estimating" Solution Architect - what the customer wants implemented, how many people to execute and how long, feeds into the price. "Functional" Solution Architect - expert on the platform and plays across the workstreams to make sure everything is going to work together. Knows some tech but mostly business + functional. Technical architect - delivering the solution and the platform, integrations, etc. That go into the solution.

Sounds technical, maybe you aren’t the one getting your hands dirty with baseline config/development but you are the SME with the technical know-how who will design the final solution/architecture.

I know my client needs an Accounting Manager. I know this because they’re startup med device company that has their books in complete shambles. The current accounting team isn’t very strong. How do I let the client know that I would be interested in joining them? They’re not actively recruiting for any position but I know they’d benefit from it. Serious responses only :)

Last step of an interview process, I’ve received a case study where a new player enters the market with a cheaper and better proposition. Not dramatic movement of the market has been detected, but customers are asking for similar offers and the market seems to loose its “dynamics”. The client is asking my firm to develop a strategy to fend its clients data base and revenue stream from the new player. - 1h presentation, any suggestions on how to structure the problem?

Share your best (worst) “I didn’t know I was on camera” or “I didn’t know I was unmuted” stories here. I’ll go first: started at a new client, and joined their first daily standup Zoom call. Was just getting out of shower and running 2 mins late, so joined from my phone as I was getting dressed. Apparently the Zoom app on iOS (at least on my phone) defaults to camera ON. 13 people on the call. That sucked.

I've had a junior (by level but not age) client resource that has been rude and disrespectful since the day he joined a couple weeks ago.
