No doubt, I’m in Fed on a 100% remote project right now and I’m never going back.

State, local and higher ed still have commercial mindset.

@D3 dude life is too short to not value it! Time is most of us have.... and time is not money....

Lmao depends on how much you value work life balance

State is just as bad as fed

State and local could potentially shaft you on their debts. Fed's will make good. For now.

I’m also 100% remote in fed and work from the beach

State/local is tougher and usually less funds to accomplish requirements

I’m currently a Project Manager but looking for a career change. I have 3 YOE with a Bachelors, am interested in becoming a data analyst but I feel like I lack technical skills (no SQL experience, but willing to learn!). I also have an interest in market research but no professional experience there, just big projects in college. Any thought help - thank you!

If you’ve decided you just don’t like practicing law, especially after several jobs, what have you done to leave? Do you feel compelled to use your JD in some way because, “well, I already got it”? Or are you okay moving in an entirely new direction?
I’m thinking of starting a new business unrelated to law. The JD and practice experience will obviously come in handy with typical business management issues like negotiating and enforcing contracts, basic HR issues, etc. (Cont. in comments)

I’m handling erroneous IRS collection letters - for example, assess fail-to-file and fail-to-pay penalties based on postal mail delivery dates but not postmarked dates; assessing capital gain taxes on taxpayers whose income is within the threshold subject to 0% capital gain rate. These errors look like systemic failure (wrong formula). Now the Practitioner Priority Line is blew up, and the AICPA May 17 letter says only 2% of IRS calls are answered. My wife and I are considering relocating to a new city. I’ve been working with a recruiter who (I thought) gave me a good lay of the land. Which firms to meet with re lateral opportunities, which to avoid, etc. I’ve since spoken with a friend who has connections at other firms that could be a better fit. Do I bring in my recruiter or reach out through connections? Is using a recruiter beneficial to me, or am I better off on my own? How does their fee play in to what I could get as a package?
