Those are “brokers”, friend. Big difference. Insurers = insurance carriers (underwriting companies) taking risk on the balance sheet. And no, it’s a great industry all along the value chain- carrier/broker/TPA etc etc
Re-reading my question I can see why you got defensive but I am sincere in my question about exit opportunities. I’m sure insurance is a great industry but where do people go after 5-8 years in?
Not at all “defensive” just trying to help you better frame and define this $1T industry. Speaking from experience, here’s one potential career path: 15 years of successful career progression in global broker roles -> senior -level external hire to McK -> currently utterly frustrated with someone from KPMG’s inability to ask a clear question.
Answering this question is obviously tough for you. Appreciate your attempt in spite of your failure to be helpful. Though I did find your take interesting that McK is a reasonable exit op for marsh folks.
It can be. Just like anywhere else, constantly have to demonstrate your worth. I’ve noticed recent departure seem to be EY FSO, Deloitte GPS, and in-house roles at tech companies in various mid/back office positions.
Some people might call those exits a graveyard.
I went to Marsh. Regret it.
Can you elaborate a bit on it....why do you regret...
