I am a developer and one of my performance metrics is "Utilization" (billable hours). I am finding it hard to meet this goal (get enough work from my project team), accomplish all my admin tasks, and take vacation/holidays. Any advice?
Do we have a chargeable code that we can bill our time to while we are waiting on a code to open? Its getting close to FYE utilization cut off so want to make sure I get credit for the hours pending.
Has EY really had a good year? I am looking at utilization in my region (SW tax) and it seems abysmal. Are raises really going to be better than last year?
People on here are talking about billable hours and utilization... are those things that are tracked on an individual basis? We do it as a firm aggregate and thought that was the norm, but seems to be that it might be tied to specific people at other firms?
Will a sabbatical affect your utilization?
What are firms utilization and sales expectations for manager? My sales for first year manager is 1m and utilization is 70%. Is this generally normal, lenient, or aggressive? I’m at a small boutique ~100 people
I️ don’t want to be tied to a single technology and would like to have a breadth of experience and freedom. Although it seems the only way to get utilization is through a single tech piece. Continued
When do utilization rates reset at PwC?
Anyone in DT think that the utilization reports with everyone's name they send to all seniors and above is just a obnoxious shaming tactic ?
EY's fiscal year ends in June and effective July 1st utilization resets. How fitting that there is a heavy emphasis on keeping utilization up in the coming weeks. 😂
For those in TAS/FDD, is anyone being pulled into other work (like audit or even PPP)? Or is it more common to be unassigned/have low utilization when things are slow?
Why do holidays count against utilization?
TIL: Just attended the kickoff session of a Flexibility and Predictability committee for a multi-project account. They mentioned that Booz and McKinsey exclude PTO from utilization calculation.
Hey managers and above - do you get to take all of your vacation time? Does vacation still kill utilization? And do you get to be actually off on your days off, or is it just working from some place nicer?
My s/o has a >800 score and still got denied the Marriott Bonvoy card with the $95 annual fee. Can we request a review? Absolutely ridiculous reasons too. Her utilization is great and has an above avg credit history too.
I romanticized being a consultant while working in industry. Then I got a consulting job, a couple promos, and now the idea of consulting just makes me roll my eyes. I love the pay and I don’t mind working hard, w/ long hours, but the “business of consulting” is exhausting (e.g. maintaining utilization, selling engagements, 6k iterations of a deck, etc). Great company, great co-workers, and interesting engagements.... I can’t be the only one feeling this way. Time to exit or is this a phase?
I’m 2.5 weeks out of training and haven’t been utilized to the full extent. I haven’t been staffed and rarely have been asked to complete smaller one-off projects. Who should I talk to? MD? Associate? Other analysts? Broader question is ‘how do I ask for work?’
Anyone else struggling with wfh during busy season? I have no way to understand productivity relative to other new hires and feel like i am under utilized
If you are on an FWA, do you need to meet your FWA utilization hours every week? I.e I am 75% so do I need 30 charge plus whatever admin hours to mercury? I am talking to my people consultant and she seems to think so. In a job that is highly seasonal, how is this possible??
If you're going to carry a backpack instead of a briefcase, at least make sure it doesn't look like you stole it right out of an 8th grade classroom. Smh.

Anyone know the TC of mba entry level of Big Tech PM roles (e.g. Amazon) and how comp progresses? Internet suggests high 100s which seem kind of low. Need this to model out the roi of an mba thanks a lot!
Any insights on working at Snapchat? Looking at a role in Sales Strategy & Operations. Wondering about culture (coming from consulting), comp, etc
Anyone have any experience doing an informational interview? Never done one before and not sure how to approach it or what to ask.
Call me old fashion but have a beard or don’t have a beard. If you have an in between beard, you need to shave for an interview. This isn’t a hipster conference.
I've been out of accounting for about 2 years because I decided to move to another country for life experiences. I will be moving back mid 2022 with my fiance and will go back to Audit most likely. My firm said they would gladly take me back when I left. If i was making 65k as a senior 2 years ago is it reasonable to ask for 72k and a 10k signing bonus even with a 2 year break? Would it be more reasonable if I went to a different firm instead? How much do you think is reasonable?
Hi Tax Bowlers, I'm an experienced associate (2yrs) in a Big 4 Transfer Pricing division. I have reached a point in my career where I am considering taking up a professional certification. Several colleagues recommended taking up either ACCA or CFA, however, I see little connection between these certifications and the work that I am currently doing, and what I plan to do in the future. What would you guys suggest? Would it be detrimental to my career if I did not take up any certifications?
I want to exit to a GM or Senior ops director role. Currently 3 yrs in consulting, 10 yrs in ops at well-known manuf. firm, CPIM, CSCP, T20 MBA, Ind Eng undergrad. Anyone have recs on how to prepare?
Is it too late to buy the FAANG stocks? Still feel that Amazon and Google are undervalued.
Amazon low ball offer (L5): 105 base + 10k sign on + 80k stock (4 years) VS KPMG Manager offer: 165k + 10k sign on. Both are in Seattle. Should I go to FAANG for prestigious brand?
Experienced hires applying to consulting roles - are your resumes 1 page long or 2 pages?
Hey Fishes, trying to benchmark my salary here… senior associate, advisory, tier 2 city, big 4, 7 yoe in consulting, although less in the current community. What would be a good range?
