My boyfriend and I have been together for 2 months and he moved to another state for the summer to work. He made female friends that he is constantly texting throughout the day. We spoke and he reassured me that they’re just friends but he’s started being secretive with his phone he even turned off his messages notifications so they dont show up when we’re together. Like one time he went out with them and i didn’t hear from him until the next day(late morning). What should I do?

For those who rigorously budget to achieve FIRE, can y’all give me some tips that work for you? Any other tips and tricks that work for you? In general we automate savings first and kind of reflect on the bills at end of month and note where to tighten for the following month but I feel like we need more discipline

new to investing. have done some research - reading blogs and a few books on investing. Do people tend to age out of wanting to FIRE?

In your 20s-30s, you don’t know much, you’re told what to do, you have few financial resources so you are tied to your job. Under these circumstances it makes perfect sense why you would want to FIRE asap.

But eventually you advance up the ladder, you are now the boss and your people do all the grunt work. You also have built up expertise which makes the job easier. And you are making the best money of your life. FIRE is no longer so pressing.

Serious question - is there a reverse FIRE strategy? I like the idea of saving and retiring early, but the one hiccup I see (and sorry if this is grim) is if you die earlier than expected. I’d be worried that I would minimize lifestyle and fun for retirement at 50 but I’d die at 49. How about a way to work 9 months out of the year and retire/travel/relax for 3 months? This way you guaranteed your dreams/etc. are fulfilled
