Is thank you letters/emails after an interview still a thing? I’m noticing that you don’t get contact information for the hiring managers anymore and wanted to know thoughts on this. Do you all think it makes a difference?

About a year ago I took a job closer to home (7.5miles). My previous position is about 50miles away, but I worked there for 11.5 years. I am really thinking about leaving and going back to my previous position. I absolutely HATE my job now. It gives me panic attacks thinking about it. A few days later, she called asking about a possible start date and location, and requested me to send a copy of my ID. She told me the result will come out in two days and exactly two days later, she told me the result is delayed and to wait a few more days. I can't help but feel like I didn't get the job. Products I worked on previously were sold to a new company. I am a good fit because of my experience. However, I specifically left the previous company because I disagreed with the strategic direction they were taking with the products and didn't leave on the best terms with some of those involved. I've been told that the leadership is all new people, but, some might still be there.

I got a job offer for what seems to be a great company but I’m not sure if I would have the same life balance. I started interviewing as a way to see my worth in the industry. My current role is at a small company, and I’m not sure how I could grow within the role because Im not advancing my skill, I just do the same thing every day at a lower level. I like my current role because it’s flexible and I’m paid well for not doing very much work. Should I switch to a more rigorous job?
