Pre-MBA strategy 🐠, I’m wondering what kind of salary ranges you have seen when moving to a strategy role in a startup or industry? Trying to evaluate an offer I received and I have no benchmarks
Advice Needed: Last month I was laid off from work, however, since have been able to secure another position with another firm (located 90 minutes from my house in a more rural part of the state) doing real estate closings. Aside from the commute and the work (not incredibly fulfilling or challenging) the job is fine. I do consider myself incredibly fortunate to be employed during these challenging times. Do I aggressively continue my job search or wait until the beginning of the year?
How many years can you remain in the same position/title at the same agency before it starts looking bad or questionable on your resume?
Experienced SM at Deloitte, interviewing at Slalom this week. What is the equivalent level for a Deloitte SM at Slalom? Any thoughts on haggling position/salary...seems to “gap” with my skill set
Best exit opps out of MBA programs? Why is everyone so obsessed with MBB or PE? What are some other high paying opps with better WLB that are fun as well?
I see a fundamental issue with consultant salary/role expectations when exiting. What do you expect when exiting MBB after 3, 5, 7 years post MBA? What's your target (VC, IB, FAANG etc.)?
Currently a junior in the strategy function of a bottom F500 company, with no previous consulting experience. Looking to move into strategy consulting, what is the best pathway and approach? If I aim for MBB or T2, would I only be hired into a lower level position?
I’ll be promoted next year to senior but I’m in a niche role where I don’t see myself long term. Should I make a job switch now or should I wait to get promoted to senior? I currently have 1.5 years of experience.
Are MBB’s really the most prestigious firms? What’s the stereotype in the industries? Are their exit opportunities that amazing? Does office location matter- better prestige? So many questions man..
What are peoples opinions of EY FAAS group? How’s the work? How’s the pay? How the WLB? Interviewing for a Senior position.
Just got an offer for a senior position in FDD at a Big 4. What should I expect to be making? Want to make sure I'm in line with the market. In the New York area.
Have an interview coming up with the chief revenue office. The role I'm interviewing for is the head of NA HR supporting him. It's a maturing startup in hyper grow stage with aggressive revenue goals. Appreciate any pointers of things I should bring up and discuss that would give him the confidence that I'd be an excellent HR partner. What has come up to my mind is asking about his major challenges and his revenue attainment strategies, and what my views are of supporting him from people's side
Looking through LinkedIn, seeing a lot of people who move from one PE firm to another. How common is this? Have no previous PE experience but recently offered a role (VP for portfolio ops side, UMM/MF size) and wondering about how many PE doors are opened simply by being in PE.
Has anyone been able to get an experience letter from Deloitte? I am an ex employee with Deloitte and currently looking for EVL for my green card paper work, may I reach out to my Deloitte counselor or manager ? I know future employers can verify my employment information and salary in 'theworknumber' website, but for GC Process I would like to have my role and responsibilities detailed in Deloitte letter head. Please suggest!
Anyone can speak to the culture of Amazon’s accounting? They’ve been hiring like crazy and I started to wonder if this is a good exit option. I know it’s a big team, but any insights are highly appreciated!
Exit opps for 🐠 doing SAP work: Considering move to Industry - What kind of roles & salary range can I expect? Currently a M on path for SM in next 6 months. FWIW - Southeast.
Pros and cons of chief of staff positions? I am trying to exit consulting for better WLB and not sure if chief of staff type role makes sense
If you apply to MBB with some experience (1.5-2 years) and start at an entry level position, do you get paid the same as campus hires or more? If more, how much?
Loved comments on law books for summer reading. Pasted responses. Two questions:1-Recommend recent outstanding Fiction/Non Fiction reads. 2-Any especially suited to Audible listening? BETT!! Flexed my negotiation skills and negotiated a 80% increase from my current base salary (not counting bonus, commission or RSUs). Posting for inspiration to others. I used to read this thread thinking people were over exaggerated their pay bumps but it’s real y’all!!
24M with a young kid. Would anyone recommend buying life insurance? Any thoughts/opinions?
I’ve been struggling with the future of my career lately. I’ve been a business analyst in fed software dev projects for 5 years now. The natural progression would be to become a PM in a similar project. I’ve fortunately been given many opportunities to try out some “lead” roles at my current firm. I’ve tried it...and I just don’t like it. Doesn’t fit my personality or give me any satisfaction. I like working more on the “ground” and learning from developers. But I know I could be making cont.
If you were laid off or fired would you apply for your current job? I was laid off from Big 4 audit in 2016 after working there for 2 years and it was one of the best things to happen to me. 1. It allowed me to reflect and decide what was important in my next career. 2. Losing a job isn’t as frightening as it seems. 3. Accountants have major job security as I got a job offer within 2 weeks. When you’re miserable at work ask yourself would you apply for your current job?
I am a 1-2 year lawyer in a large law firm (BigLaw non-US/UK) and feel like I am being under-utilised in my current team/firm. I think the team is too heavily staffed at the junior level which means I’m not getting enough experience for my level. It’s also saturated with competent mid level lawyers who seem to get all the good work before it trickles down. A position has opened at a competitor firm that I am considering applying for. Looking for peoples thoughts - is now the time to leave?
Mck fish, if you’re promoted from BA to EM, are you in the same pay band as EMs who came up thru MBA / associate path?
DFW Uber - Every driver I get has some great "investment opportunity" or is "about to get back into consulting".
Curious about the perception of Watson Health , and if ppl think it’s a good place to start a career (why/why not). Thanks :)
Forget Glassdoor. The government publicly reports the salaries of H1B visa employees. http://h1bdata.info/index.php?em=&job=&city=&year=All
Me after a week on the bench
My sisters internship got cancelled :( do you think there's much chance in even applying for new roles at this point? In Canada fwiw
Top consulting firms hiring right now?
If you were applying to grad school (MBA) and had someone offering to write a rec letter what traits would you ask them to focus on? Rephrased, what traits would selection committees be most interested in?
Why did you leave your last job? Did you follow your passion, hated the work, got fired, wanted more money, etc?
Everyone is scared to accept a new job offer now, why? Is it true you have to be employed with the SAME employer for 6 months to get benefits if laid off? Can't find online, help!
