Is the path to partner shorter in MBB vs big4?

Starting from undergrad, it’s minimum of 9 years

^ not PwC. 10+ is the real minimum.

I'm at the Post MBA level (began as entry level) and I'm minimum 10 years probably closer to 12

like

It is essentially the same post MBA at big 4. Min would be 7 (2 years at sc, 2 years at manger, 3-4 years at sm) if you were promoted first time up every time. That said I've seen folks get suck at SM.

like

It's more like 12-14 years.

So at MBB, you get paid more and you make partner sooner? **Envious** however, I'm pretty happy at EY though!

like

Yes

^ Technically 8.5 post u/g or 6.5 post-MBA. More common is 10 post-u/g or 8 post MBA.

From what I’ve seen is 15 years min. Fastest I’ve seen is 9 years at Accenture from an experienced hire

If you sell enough work it is unlikely you get held back for partnership. What does progression look like prior to SM for you big 4 folks? I've filled the progression I outlined which is why I'm curious. I don't think I'm spectacular. Also what service areas/businesses are you in?

Yes

Not sure about that any more at Accenture in Strategy with the up or out model you don’t get 15 even from undergrad.

Hi all,
I was reached out to yesterday by a recruiter from BCG about a Talent Manager role. I was curious if anyone had any insight about this position or knew of what it might entail aside from what I read on the job description. I speak with the recruiter next week to discuss it and potentially moving forward.

Thanks in advance!

How do you all deal with the guilt of leaving a comany/ team? I have been working at Microsoft for 1 year now, and seriously considering moving. I find the code base to be very legacy and I mostly work on obscure bugs that I spend so much time on, mostly due to navigating this large code base and not having much docs to refer to. Hence I find the job slightly unsatisfying, and that I could learn more elsewhere. However, I love the wlb, the team and company culture. The guilt stops my applying.

I’ve applied to multiple companies this past year and got to multiple final panel interviews as the final candidates. I am a bit depressed I haven’t been hired although I am still employed. I understand my service shouldn’t be highly regarded but it hurts to know managers have dismissed that experience. I just had to vent 😔

I've heard multiple people say at a certain age, it no longer makes sense to make partner. What does that even mean? I know you typically have to be a partner for 10 years to fully vest in the pension. But even if I were a partner for just 2 years, isn't it still better to be a partner? Year 1 partner comp might be almost same as your comp the year you made partner due to health insurance and buy in, but it's not like you're worse off as a partner. And you get your buy in back when you leave.
