I did about 2200 to 2300 hrs at mid tier. Used to take hour lunches and not eat hours Been doing 2500 to 2700 and eat time, not lunch
Probably not due to lower number of staff. Depends on groups and teams.
Worse
For me mid-tier was much worse. Stress level was also way worse. At EY it's easy for me to say I can't handle the workload and they move something off me because there are so many people. That did not happen at mid-tier.
Much better in my experience, BDO v EY.
Much better BT v KPMG.
Way better in my experience
I think it truly comes down to the types of clients that you work on. Big 4 has a significant/majority of large/very large public clients where lots of work needs to be done and it’s year round. I worked exclusively on PE owned companies and I feel my work life balance is pretty good (obviously there are times where we work a lot too). Plus it helps to have people above you that care more about you than your client and are willing to make work/life balance a reality instead of a gimmicky tool.
I went from B4 to mid tier. Stay b4 trust me. Trying to get back into b4
Crowe puts a lot of emphasis on work life balance, but it really varies office to office. The office I work in is significantly better in balance compared to all my b4 friends.
