The impact of this is no where near over. Commercial clients aren’t signing contracts anytime soon, the current feeling is that it’ll start back up around August time. But the economic impact (your raises/bonuses/salaries for new hires) will be felt for another year or two

No, worst is yet to come for consulting if I had to guess. Pipelines have been wrecked.

AP1 stop drinking the kool aid. Unless you are in TRS there are plenty of available folks

BCG is strong. Revenue is up year over year and so are cases sold. We strategically pushed offers so we wouldn’t have a ton of folks learning in this virtual environment. Feeling confident about the future

BCG1 - still stand by your “no layoffs” comments?

I feel we will all see it crashing soon. So far we keep our people busy with Covid response work, etc. At one point these things will be gone and big companies will start saving those Consulting dollars

Why PwC is not included 😀😀 though you included strategy&

We're just getting going. Wait till unemployment runs out (or is reduced) - as early as this July and demand begins to truly crash. Zero interest rates and quantitative easing can only prop us up for so long with unemployment rates above 15%. I find Roubini's prognostication of a global depression in the 2020s to be very compelling - many other concerns looming on the horizon beyond COVID, think climate change, natural disasters, rising inequality, cold war with China, global indebtedness. Personally I am grateful to be servicing a federal account in national security and crisis management.

We took a hit earlier than anyone due to our business model but weekly revenue is trending up gradually and im certain the worst is behind us

Also very short term projects meaning there wasn’t much lag between covid hitting the US and ongoing cases ending / clients weighing whether to buy us again

Yea McKinsey has ramped up internal efforts to keep people busy but we still have 200 EMs on the beach in NA, which insane. We are still hiring in the west coast for some reason. I think we will only continue the internal work for so long before they start Counseling people to leave to prevent layoffs

How long this winters last?

yes, the worst will be sometime around August. Right now i think we are trying to estimate how bad it will get.

Yeah we’re easier to get into than Harvard, that’s why 😅

Haven’t been hit too hard. EYP + Strategy merger continuing as planned. There as a dip in projects and our bonuses have been cut, but anecdotally seeing a uptick in project sales and the current average billability for a senior consultant is around ~80% which is quite solid.

How about Strategy&? How are you guys doing?

It seems health has been sold out for donkey years now

Winter is coming early.

Seems like all firms are doing ok. Can the dooms day scenario be ruled out now?

30% is utter disaster in general for a professional service firm as usually the equity owners are usually paid 1/3 of the revenue. owners would have to take there own money and put it into the firm to cover all the opex and staff salaries.

Considering MBB offers here. Background = ~2YOE at tier 2 (think LEK/EYP/S&). Mck role is a Junior Associate position with the highest salary offer, BCG and Bain offering an experienced AC equivalent position (with a potentially faster promotion track to SAC etc). I've heard and seen that McK experienced hires often do worse on average than BCG/Bain esp at junior levels and wanted to get some thoughts on how I should make my decision. Thank you!
