Is there a best day to give notice? I’ve been waiting for my conflicts to clear and had been hoping it would be on Friday but probably won’t be until Monday now. I’ve always heard Friday is the better day. Not looking forward to it as I think the partner I work for will be upset given the case load I handle, so I’d like to make it as respectful a process as possible.

I’m over my company. I just recently got passed over for a promotion to a level 8 manager position. Weird thing is it is for the team I am on. I been on this team for several years and I’m the lead developer pretty much in my role. It’s ETL btw. The hiring manager said I can do the role definitely but the reason they went with someone else was they had more breadth. Anyone has thoughts on situation and/or know some good companies I should check out with roles in data?

Hi I am hiring for my office in Israel. I am being told that there is no ownership on resumes. In the US if the person we hire is in our database within the last year we pay no fee. But in Israel my people tell me there is no such thing and if they present a candidate and we hire them we owe a fee whether the candidate is in our DB or not. If I live in NJ and work in NYC, I know normally I would pay taxes to NY and get a credit from NJ for the amount paid to NY (right?), but what about everyone who lives in NJ and whose office is in NYC but has been working from home in NJ? Does that change anything? when I submit my timesheets I have to specify what state time was worked in. Will I get to pay lower NJ taxes for the time spent working from home in NJ? Had the most amazing mtg today...I was the only woman on a creative call with 5 men (I am a producer FYI). They were brainstorming campaign slogans...typically I shy away from making creative suggestions, but we were going around in circles so I said “what if it were just X”. Everyone just kinda nodded and moved on. 20 minutes later a dude makes the SAME EXACT suggestion. Everyone flips - immediately loves it. The CD says “that’s the one, mtg over”. I've been using the free version of Casetext for a few years. It's fast, basic, and I like it. Unfortunately, they have gone subscription only. The firm has (and I dislike) Westlaw. Any good alternatives to Casetext that provide for lightweight, fast case resources?

Just finished articling at a firm and was offered a position to stay on with them. I was offered another position at another firm which I want to take but not until the new year. My current firm is now pressuring me to sign a contract with them where it stipulates I would need to provide 1 month notice. Do I sign and quit as originally intended? I was planning on beginning at the new firm in February. Or should I let them know my intentions sooner? I’m afraid it will effect my year end bonus.
