It’s definitely not financially accretive (immediately), but there are non-financial considerations (“returns”). For me, those are building a really strong network and gaining brand recognition that could lead to big financial payback in the future. Also the two years of fun.

While I understand your premise, I kinda disagree. For both insurance and the lottery, it’s either 100% worth basically whatever you pay (if it pays off) or 100% not worth it (if it doesn’t pay off). With well defined actuarial tables, you can get pretty close in pricing insurance to expected value. In this case, it’s a SWAG at absolute best. So if your decision to get MBA needs to perfectly fulfill the equation, it probably isn’t right for you.

Financial probably not. But you can definitely have a better life experience going, so that’s pretty important

There doesn’t seem to be much convincing you. If it’s not for you, it’s not for you - and that is OK.

Then it doesn’t sound like something you would do regardless of the great reasons we give you here…

No

Depends if you are switching companies. If you are already MBB it 100% is negative ROI even with sponsorship

They asked about ROI not if it’s worth it to get an MBA. I personally think it’s worth it which is why I’m in this bowl 😅

I was in this position and planned to originally go back to same employer. My bosses convinced me it was worth it on a 5-10 year horizon. Anecdotally, the friends who returned to similar post-MBA roles have been promoted much faster than the non-MBAs. Is it worth 200K? Depends on the industry you’re in, and how much a faster promotion, if possible, would yield My rec - ask more senior folks with MBA’s at your current company / in your industry for an answer to this question. It’ll be a great networking opportunity at the same time

I think the mba also takes away an important route. Which is at any given point today I can quit my job and live life without having to worry about my next student loan payment. Or if I wanted to boot strap a company I'll have one less personal finance worries. More senior folks at my company have all chosen to work the next 10yrs+ post mba

Not everything is about money OP, there are many other considerations when doing an MBA and 200k over a lifetime is really very little🤷🏻‍♀️

PEA 1 knows what’s up!😅 Exactly!!

MBB associate with undergrad degree in economics. Loved the degree, though didn’t do much with it outside of class (spent summers on internships, didn’t write a thesis). If I want to do something related to economics, how can I best leverage my current background to do so? Would MS in Econ make more sense than an mba? Maybe MS in stats or data science? Does the MBB background help in any way?

Adventures in Interviewing: Today we were wrapping up a pretty good interview with a strong potential candidate. When asked if they had any last questions, they said that they had an issue with our Work from Home policy (we’re 100% WFH right now, and will not consider a re-opening strategy until everyone is vaccinated). The candidate declared that they did not believe in vaccines, so we needed to allow her to be a permanent remote hire. I guess I’m glad about the dodged bullet, so there’s that.

Finishing up my MBA this spring, looking to treat myself. What would you recommend for someone starting out/what was yours?

Interviewed for a Production Support Engineer role two days ago - went OK, was able to answer some questions and others that I couldn’t. The role was not posted yet on their site or LinkedIn at the time of me interviewing. Feedback from Manager was that I presented myself well and they would have to discuss as a team if they had the time to get me up to speed as there was a learning curve. Noticed yesterday morning the the role had been newly posted on LinkedIn (day after interview).

Currently BA at MBB Eastern European office with no reliable access to LS projects. Got offered A2 with FT to AC at LEK LS and Sr. Cons at OW LS London. Comp is about the same. I am particularly interested in drug market access/ commercialization strat. and LS M&A. Can anyone provide advice on which option to choose? It seems that OW has both of my interests, while LEK has brand name plus strong M&A track. Would appreciate any advice/ comment

Curious on the industries thoughts on people who over sell themselves in the interview process for a senior level position and when they get the job it becomes clear they don’t actually know how do the work. If you are a supervisor what are your thoughts in this instance? How long do you give the person to “figure it out”? Currently dealing with this within our dept and it’s causing more work/frustration than the new hire is actually helping.

Can someone give me advice or words of encouragement here? I’m feeling quite burned out. Here are the details: - I’ve been on my current project for over a year now - on my 3rd work stream on the project - due to team dynamics it doesn’t really make sense for me to roll off and have someone else roll on to take my place - It’s not even the number of hours I’m working that makes me feel burned out, I just am sick of this same project every day for a year
