Is there a difference in outreach between setting LinkedIn open to opportunities feature to actively applying vs casually browsing?

I view the “Open to Opportunities” setting as more of a passive job search relying on recruiters/connections to reach out to you. By actively applying you can be as aggressive as you want, but obviously there is strength in numbers. By applying to a bunch of roles you’ll get more interviewed, offers, practice, etc.

Are tucks MBB numbers really that good? I saw a student on Reddit say about 35 mbb internships were granted in their year out of about 150 applicants (70-90 interviews per firm). Not sure what to make of this. Additionally, is it true that the battle is to get interviews and once you get one, then it’s just a matter of you performing (I.e., you’re no longer competing against classmates)?

I just started at Accenture in late Feb with their resources group(Industry X) as a Senior Analyst (L10)at 88k and 10k signon. Last week AlliantGroup offered a PM role in the 179D group at 160k= perf bonus. I am planning on taking that offer to ACN given my experience (9 Yr in Oil & Gas engineering) and education (TAMU MBA) and use it as leverage to get bumped up to consultant (L9) or senior consultant (L8). Is this a sound strategy for current or former Accenture peeps? Thoughts?
