Is there a FIRE recommended resource for how to structure investment portfolio @ different life stages - e.g. how to invest when still tackling loans, after purchasing a house, etc.

I think the reddit personal finance wiki links to a flow chart.

I'd suggest reading A Simple Path to Wealth, but the gist would be 100% equity index fund (S&P 500 or total us stock market, assuming you're in the US). While you're still saving/accumulating just go all in on stocks. It's only the last year or two of working and the first 3-5 years of retirement where the asset allocation is trickier. (The blog Early Retirement Now has a good series on sequence of return risk that lays out why and strategies to approach it.)

Best consulting companies for Healthcare related projects ?

Could use some perspective from folks here! I joined as in-house counsel from V20 recently. When I interviewed for the position, the hiring manager explained the team structure and broadly gave me a career path in the company. The day I joined I learned of a long term secondee who’s around my same level that they’re planning on bringing in with the exact same job description as me. I feel extremely frustrated and had I known this before joining, I might have made a different decision. Contd.

Does anyone here use dividend income to live off or fund parts of lifestyle? I’d like to get started now and hopefully have nice cash flow in some years

I am 37 and just started aggressively saving 4 years ago (beyond maxing my 401k). I have around $500k in retirement accounts and $350k in savings and investment accounts. About $200k in equity in my house (half paid off). Beyond maxing my 401k I have 6k/month I save/invest. Ideally want to retire in 8 years (45). What are good options to do with the 6k/month? Right now I just blindly buy mutual funds.

If you save you’re taxed. If you put funds in retirement account you’re taxed. If you trade you’re taxed. If you get a bonus you’re taxed. If you breathe you’re taxed. Federal took my money , now state takes it too. Guys is there a course on how to pay minimal taxes by investing in certain commodities?

Hey folks, very new to investing. I want to hold SP 500 in my Roth IRA. What's the major difference between Vanguard SP 500 ETF and the mutual fund which also tracks that index? Only difference I know is that vanguard mutual fund requires 3000 min investment whereas ETF doesn't. What other differences are there?

What to do with a recent windfall when the market is at/near all time highs? No debt other than mortgage and all tax advantaged accounts maxed out for 2021. Concern is leaving money on the sidelines but also investing all without dollar cost averaging.

Small update on my FIRE journey. I signed a contract yesterday to close on my 3rd rental property. #'s below. I'm doing 25% down. Once I have this 3rd one, this will bring my total monthly Cash Flow to $950 a month after all expenses, including setting aside 10% of the rent each month for maintenance/vacancies.

I’ve invested some after tax money to my 401k and did an in-plan conversion to Roth. Am I able to transfer this money to my Roth IRA? Any particular reason it’s beneficial to do that besides potentially better investment options?

Does anyone have any inspiration stores of FIRE without an incredibly high income/family financial support. Looking for hope 😅

I need to do a backdoor Roth IRA - A question I have is do I need to do the full $6000 contribution limit up front, or can I do a portion, convert it, and then continue to contribute throughout the year?

Also once it is converted can I contribute to that same account in future years?

Just hit my first major milestone since starting FIRE and can’t share it with anyone I know. I increased my net worth 100k a year, on a 100k total salary, thanks to intensive saving and good investments and am proud of myself. I’m hoping with FIRE I can be out of the corporate rat race in just over a decade.

First time home buyer -

1. looking for guidance on how to find credible mortgage lenders and how to shop/negotiate interest rates as well as the loan amount

2. Is it true that pledging your stock investments as collateral helps with getting a lower interest rate?

3. If I sell some stocks to go towards down payment, are there any strategies to minimize capital gain taxes on the stocks?

I’m in NJ and looking to buy a condo in north Jersey! TIA
