Because Ted Cruz is an example to model your behavior after. 🙄
Most reports suggest Ted Cruz was universally hated in school so I wouldn’t worry about elitist jerks :) ALSO the fact that you came from a more humble background and still made it to the same place is an achievement, not at all something to be ashamed of - in my experience, most people aren’t elitist btw
Yea at GSB the Ivy grads live on the Hoover Tower while state school grads have to live under the Dumbarton Bridge
😂
Ted Cruz was a dick because he will always be a dick. Remember it’s up to each person to break the cycle of prestige flexing and recognize that getting into a certain school is a mixture of hard work and luck.
No you often don’t know, even previous job only a little
Law is very different from business. In legal field, prestige matters a lot. I would say for business it’s more about the value you create and your relationship with people. it’s especially the case in entrepreneurship.
I have spent time at Harvard Law School. Most people are pretty nice. Prestige matters for legal jobs. When the economy was down around 2009-2010, HLS students getting jobs were people whose parents were partners at law firms. You can also get banking jobs out of HLS if the economy is down.
The mooch being a good example !!
Coach
There isn’t a hierarchy, but if you’re coming from a less prestigious undergrad or job, or wealth/class, you’ll have to do more to prove that you belong and are equally smart.
It’s not fair but that’s just the nature of things. Once you graduate from H/S in the future/ you’ll have the same benefit of the doubt/privilege too.
I come from an average background and don’t ever feel the need to prove myself at the GSB. People almost never talk about their undergrad or prior company, unless two people are bonding about coming from the same place. Honestly, I think everyone assumes everyone else is here for a reason and doesn’t really question it.
