Is there a non-confrontational way to let a senior know that sitting on documents isn’t okay and they need to pull their weight? Senior won’t even acknowledge that they have been slow to review and sign off on documents. Instead, they throw the juniors on the team. I am a mid-level and know that the senior is the real hold-up.

I would never do such an egregious action and ruin the senior’s morning coffee 😧😧😧

When a partner asks where a doc is, just say “believe X has been tied up on other matters but is planning to review as soon as they can.” This basically nicely implies that they have been slow to review and are the issue.

It’s typically the client that asks for the documents since equity partner is pretty far removed from off it. I always manage the client expectations but I want stuff to just get done.

Listen...you probably don't really fully understand what is going on. I am a partner but from my juniors' perspective I have been sitting on docs for weeks on a major deal. But the juniors don’t know that same deal died twice this week and the client told me to put the piece the juniors did on hold until we fix the capital stack. No one wants to go fully pencils down but this week has been brutal for the debt and capital markets.

A7, I am a mid-level (5th year). Not off based at all. Not sure why people create their own facts and try and argue off of that?

like

Maybe the senior has something with higher priority.

I’m sure they do but we if we constantly have a client chasing us because of this senior, it doesn’t make our team look its best. I also considered that the senior is looking to lateral and that is why they are checked out.

Unless they're throwing other associates under the bus for their slowness, I don't think so, unfortunately.

They subtly throw the junior under the bus when the share partner asks for updates but never speak ill of me. I roll my eyes because I know that the senior is the hold up.

I work for one senior like this. I just CC the partner when I send the docs.

like

I like the senior too 😂 honestly I do it to avoid follow-ups from the partner, not to get him in trouble. But we have a good working relationship

Got braids. You'd think I literally got a face transplant from how shook my coworkers are. I would say over 10 people have stopped me to ask about them or comment on them and I've been at work for maybe 2 1/2 hours. It's all been positive, but am I wrong for still finding it annoying? They don't lose their minds when Sarah gets bangs or whatever so I wish they could keep that same energy.

Sales assistant at a drug/grocery store. The manager thinks my coworker does great work but I've seen her putting out new products without rotating stock (so the oldest food will be sold first) and we are always supposed to check the dates when shelving new things. The problem is, I don't really get along with this coworker and I think it's noticeable to management. If I bring this up with our supervisor, are people going to think that I'm just trying to sabotage my coworker so that I will look better than her?

What is the funniest and/or most awkward Zoom moment you’ve had at work?

I worked at LinkedIn and one of the senior leaders was sharing screen during a meeting. The conversation shifted but the leader didn’t stop sharing screen. This person navigated to Yahoo news and clicked on an article filled with women in bikinis. This individual spent a solid 2-3 mins on the article scrolling and stopping to look at each woman. Needless to say this leader was very distracted by other things on our call.

So I felt my acting manager, my actual manager is on mat leave, was a bit aggressive in her response to me and I mentioned it to her. Now she is like micromanaging like hell. How do I handle this? She comes of passive aggressive but I just ignore because she is not my manager it’s temporary. I couldn’t let this slide without letting her know I felt her response was aggressive

I am on vacation the next two weeks. It sounds like my new offer will be finalized today or tomorrow. Is it normal to call the manager and put in resignation while on vacation? My notice would be for 30 days so I’d still need to work 2 weeks after I come back from vacation.

How do you handle aggressive, hard-ass leadership?

I was on a group strategy call and our VP says "OK *account manager* (me), we have decided that your new focus needs to be electronics, do you understand that?" He said it in a very stern tone of voice. Well of course I understand it because it was my f*cking idea that I brought to his attention prior to Christmas.

IMO, this guy does nothing. He steals the ideas of his team members and then acts like tyrant in front of people.

Anyone else work at a firm where practice group leaders and name partners publicly praise some partners at all-hands meetings and shame the partners that are currently on their shit list with sarcasm in front of associates? It seems so toxic. As a recent lateral, it’s hard to get over it, and I keep thinking WTAF? 😳 Is this normal? I don’t think associates should see partner in-fighting

I have a client lead that goes to my boss for every error that she thinks I make or for recommendation rather than coming to me. I’ve called her out on it and she said she will work to talk to me directly moving forward, but instead of that, she just cc’s me on the email to my boss now. Have you all had an issue like this? I’m not sure how to handle it.
