Is there a path from FDD that leads to a realistic WLB? I want to start a family someday, but just don’t see how it’s possible to be a good spouse or parent with the time demands of this career. 3yrs of work experience if that matters.

Exit for FP&A or switch to a smaller firm? I had a director when I was in B4 who has children and she managed her WLB pretty well but I think it took setting up a lot of boundaries. The higher you go you will have some more flexibility, I believe. At an associate/senior level I don’t think it’s possible honestly- too much processing and being in the weeds 🥲

Really? I had a lot of people at my old firm leave for really great Corp dev roles with great increases in comp.

I quit kpmg fdd a few weeks ago with 4.5 YOE, felt underpaid along with too many hours. Now in industry enjoying a 9-6 lifestyle in corporate finance and strategy getting paid more.

K1, were IB offers for an analyst role?

Exit to industry in a corporate finance role

MBA then pivot to whatever you want

Just left FDD for m&a strategy consulting. 60% raise with $50k sign on. WLB probably won’t be any better but the comp was too good to pass up. there are actually a lot of options out there right now for experienced FDD people. I’m sure you can find a good gig with better WLB.

Amazing, congrats!

Did anyone's brains just stop working while pregnant? I'm 13 weeks and can only manage to work half days. I'll sit at my computer for 12 hours and bill only 3-4 hours instead of my standard 8-10. I have work to do, but zero motivation or availability to focus unless there's a looming deadline. Does this phase pass? Did this happen to anyone else?

My mat leave ends next month and I am absolutely dreading it. I’m fortunate that my baby is easy going and sleeping well so my time with her has been great. I’ve been getting bad anxiety thinking about returning to work. I’ve seen women post about how they couldn’t wait to go back to work so I feel strange that I’m not like that. Anyone else been through this?

Went in for a scan yesterday because I was having spotting and cramping at 12 weeks. The OB saw fluid behind the baby’s neck and is referring us to see a high risk doctor immediately. NIPT was negative. I’m panicking. Have any of you been through this?

Friend runs a company and hired a VP of Sales to help grow the business. Guy got some relocation $ and was supposed to start 2 months ago. Ever since he said his kid had an accident and from that point on kept pushing the start date back claiming he has to do something related to the accident. He hasn’t sent any proof to HR, has been requested twice claims he will but then doesn’t. And has pushed his start date back half a dozen times. How should I advice him to proceed?

I’m in second trimester. I just came from my grandfather’s funeral, outside. My aunt was around her 2 siblings last week that had Covid and she hasn’t been vaxed. She hugged me and mom (4 weeks from her last chemo session) and only told us about her siblings after. I’m so mad. I guess I’m just venting but the potential complications for the baby, me, and my mom make me worry. Any comforting words?
