Does anyone know if the same 401k rules apply at EY as Accenture so they will cap the contributions coming for your check say if you hit the yearly limits in August? So if you hit the 22,500 in 23 there is no way to go over for tax issues. Thinking to frontload next year contributions if market is down. EY

People have different personalities and different way of speaking. Unless it’s something very off putting, you should get over it. You may have your own quirks that you might not even know about
D1 and K1, bad (unrealistic) advice. Those filler words, especially since they're usually said with an upswing inflection, and most often by young-ish women, do distract and take away from the person's credibility and ability to influence. It's not about "diversity", it's about effective communication, professionalism, and maturity.
yeah it's called getting over it. I have a director who says "know what I mean" and has a signature laugh. it's like his catch phrase. I'm not at a pay grade to knock it. We all embrace it instead.
D1, your loss. I've been the senior leader in TA and Tech, in consulting and industry,, and have had to coach people on these things while watching them get passed over for promotions or having their input ignored by clients. How you say things matters as much as (sometimes more than) what you say. Too bad you aren't open to the coaching. Choosing your ego and need to be right over personal growth is not a winning attitude, it will only get you so far. Check back in in 5-10+ yrs and let's see if you're still so naive and stubborn.
Imitate them
Suggest going to a public speaking group, like toastmasters - it will help them to recognize their filler words
It's ok C1. Don't let OP filler shame you. Your self awareness is all you need for self improvement. And until you do eliminate it from your presenting vocabulary, most people don't give that many shits about it in every day work sessions.
In my opinion, sc1, you lack all 3 of your mentioned attributes
@SC1 i agree with you 100%
It’s called identifying yourself as a mentor and setting up a workshop with them on communication skills.
It's interesting how people don't realize that all people are different. Honestly, not a knock at you OP, but not everyone speaks the same. Filler words are annoying, I completely agree with that. But everyone is so different.
I have a client who sounds like a damn vampire when he speaks (really not sure how else to describe it). He's 100% American so it's very confusing and it makes listening to him frustrating. But I just try to be accepting of the fact that the way he pronounces words is different lol. We just have to try to be less annoyed by people who do things differently... even if it makes us want to scrape our eyes out haha.
“It’s highly distracting and frankly annoying. Ya know what I mean?”
I am one of those people and need to figure out how to stop :(
Depends if they’re senior or junior to you, op.
