Paying back $50k to 401k upon leaving . I took out 50k for home purchase but have to pay when I leave. Should I just not pay back and get taxed on the amount? I’m worried that the 50k might not even be there for me at retirement given how crazy the world has got. Prob better to pay 12k tax than lose the 50k down the line? Thoughts?

I was promoted to Senior a year ago, but have been acting as a Manager for 8 of those 12 months (independent projects). I have been told I will have to wait for a minimum of 1 year till possible M promotion. Feeling a bit dejected tbh and just want to get opinions on best way to go forward.
