Is there a standard rule in terms of how much you save vs. Spend out of your take home income? For long term financial health. About to become a father and thinking of renting a larger place, rent will increase by $500, other expenses will increase by $500 and ultimately I will save 60% of take home. Worried a little and wondering if it's still a good saving percentage.

60% of take home is definitely a good savings rate

60 percent is great. Congrats on the baby!

Thanks! It's a lot to figure out and plan 😄

There are standard rules, but they’re a one-size fits all. It’s more important to customize for yourself.

Am I wrong? SIL (don’t get along) is having baby 2. Do you have small talks with your manager and directs? Feel like an as*hole for not liking it. My boss likes to start our 1 on 1s with topics around family, trip plans, hobbies, and other small talks. I don’t care how his weekend was. Or his baby. And personally I don’t like sharing much about my family or personal life so the small talks thing is very annoying to me. He’s super nice and I like him a lot but I just don’t feel like we should try hard to get to know each other via small talks.
