Thoughts on watchbox investment in de bethune? Watchbox played a large role in the current market for FPJ. All in all, not necessarily all bad, but I’m wary as this is part of what’s causing the craziness in the luxury watch market, particularly in secondary market pricing. https://www.watchcollectinglifestyle.com/home/watchbox-invests-in-independent-swiss-watchmaker-de-bethune

But seriously, if I really wanted a new Batman I would:
- be prepared to pay 100% up front and have the cash on hand or in a savings/checking account
- be prepared to wait a year or longer
- learn as much as I could about Rolex and the watch, thereby ensuring you want it because of its inherent value, not its perceived value
- establish trusted relationships with local and online watch communities (redbar, retail shops, Facebook groups, forums, etc.) and the closest AD
- be prepared to go to that AD very frequently to a) see if you get lucky, b) show them that you’re serious, c) become friends with them, d) prove you’re not just a jerk who’s gonna buy it and flip it (assuming you’re not a jerk and are not planning to do this...)
- use the network you establish in the community to help improve your chances
Patience.
How much patience we talking lol
Find an AD that you trust. Buy a nice watch with gold/diamonds for yourself or your spouse (can negotiate up to 20% off). Ask to be put on the list for a Batman. Wait 6-12 months for a call. And head there immediately.
